You could go to Advanced Auto, Autozone or any other store like that and have them read and clear the code for you.....or you could disconnect your battery for a minute or so and that would clear the cel.

finished replacing water pump. started car, no leaks, sounds quiet as a church mose. then i noticed i had a check engine light on. Damn, first time i ever saw that light!!. then i realized that i forgot to plug back in the MAF sensor connector. I am assuming that this is what caused this as i never had issues or check light in my history of owning the car. and of course, now i cannot get my OBDII blue tooth scanner to connect to the car. 1. is my assumption that a disconnected MAF would cause this correct? 2. i assume it is ok to test drive? 3. Anyone in San Diego area have a code reader i can borrow to check and if the MAF clear the code? any and all help appreciated. thank you Brian

Chance is that the MAF being unplugged threw the cel. You could go to Advanced Auto, Autozone or any other store like that and have them read and clear the code for you.....or you could disconnect your battery for a minute or so and that would clear the cel. If you choose to disconnect the battery make sure you have your radio code handy.

FWIW, you can buy OBD code readers fairly inexpensively at places such as Harbor Freight and many online vendors such as Ebay, Amazon, etc. For less than $100, I believe these are a good tool for anyone with modern cars to have. Even if a person does not do their own repairs, knowing the problem can be an advantage when the car is taken in for repairs or service.

Yes, if you don't reconnect the MAF – it throws a code that the MAF is not responding. Did the same thing myself.
