Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You know that the stuff on his site has been installed and tested on Porsche cars.

That said, will the universal kits on eBay and Amazon work using the detailed install diagram used on this project?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

i havent really walked to far away from the car to check the range but it has worked everytime i have hit the botton.
So i got my remote lock in from Bergvill and i promised an install thread. I bought the kit on black friday for $65 instead of the regular $99 with free shipping from Norway.
i was thinking i could install it in the 15 to 20min they say i takes after reading their downloaded instructions. It actually took about 45min but 15 of that was me figuring out one of the wires i couldnt find. All in all it was a good kit and probably worth the more money then a getting a generic kit. The remotes r of high quality and the instructions were pretty good a specific to our 996.
I started by laying out the parts and my tools.
after pulling the seat i realized that i could leave it connected and just leaned it over the passenger seat.
i had trouble finding one of the wires so i decided to take apart the large plug. U have to pop off the white piece off and slide out the harness. What i found was in their instructions it shows pin 36 as the correct wire but its actually pin 35. The good thing is the color code is correct so if i could have found it it would heve been correct.
i then used the scotch lock connectors to tie in their harness. Im not a big fan of this style connector but mounted under a seat i guess they r fine. I did have to swap out 2 of the smaller red scotch locks with larger wire size blue ones because of they didnt close correctly on the larger wires.
then i stuck it to the top of the control box but the motors hit the bergvill box so u have to stick it to the floor. If i realised this i would have left the harness longer.
i only got one key when i bought the car and the buttons for unlocking and locking the doors dont work. I know i can get a cheap key and case, even get an rfi pill, but by the time u get the fob to work i may be into it for $600. I was just really tired of locking and unlocking manually. I dont mind the extra fob on the key chain as its similar to how my truck is.
i just realised i didnt put the product link in the first post.

Looks good I might do this as my key is on the blink, wish porsche would support this fault more as it seems quite common and a re programme etc isn't exactly costing them anything except a bit of time , but usually it cost a fortune to get them re programmed !!
Thanks for posting the steps. How is the performance? Did you hook it up so that your signals flash? Their instructions were kind of vague in that area.
i havent really walked to far away from the car to check the range but it has worked everytime i have hit the botton. I did hook up the turn signal flash as i perfer the visual of the blinking lights. They supply the wire, scotch locks and directions for hook up. It was really as easy as locating and connecting 2 more wires.
Thanks for the tutorial. I bought one for my 928 but have never installed it. Heads up, these are all over eBay for $10 or less. I wish I would have known that before is spent much more with Bergvillfx....

I found kits ranging from $15-129. I figured the bergvill kit on sale was middle of the road. Im a firm believer that u get what u pay for...usually. i almost never buy the cheapest chinese take off because i dont like doing things twice. Also the remotes with the bergville kit look much nicer then of the cheaper kits i saw online. What i paid for the kit $65 feels right for what i got.
Plus the owner is a member here and a stand up guy. You know that the stuff on his site has been installed and tested on Porsche cars. I don't mind paying a bit more for that.
Remotes look the same. The rest of it may function the same but its just similar. There is no manufacture and it ships from malaysia. Like i said plenty of cheap asian knock offs out there, to me that one is cheap in every deffinition of the word.
It functions as advertised. The range is good. To be honest im usually pretty good at hitting the button when getting out of the car so i havent walked away and tried it. Ill try to remember to pace off the range when i go to breakfest tomor. It real nice not having to stab the key into the door, expecially at night.
I'm a similar boat...tired of using my key and not interested in spending $$$ for a dealer fix.
