They recommend replacing the coolant reservoir as it had a small crack, replacing the ignition coils as there was some light cracking, and flushing the brake fluid (this is on top of my desire to get the LNE IMS Solution).

OP, this is a great thread on replacing the coolant tank.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have been lurking on this forum for a few years, finally pulled the trigger on a 2002 C4S a few weeks back from BringATrailer. Overpaid a bit, but I had been looking for this exact car for a while now, and was happy with the result.
What I was not happy with was buying the car relatively sight unseen.
Anyways, got the car last week and it is better than advertised. I was fully expecting it to come off of the trailer and die. I have put a few hundred miles on it just running around town and am in love. Took it in to Arbormotion in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a post-purchase inspection, again fully expecting awful news. What I got wasn't that bad! They recommend replacing the coolant reservoir as it had a small crack, replacing the ignition coils as there was some light cracking, and flushing the brake fluid (this is on top of my desire to get the LNE IMS Solution).
All in all, I feel I did pretty good! Excited to learn more about my new car and have many years of enjoyment with it as my daily driver! Pics coming once I can get it cleaned up!
Glad to hear your Post Purchase Inspection went well! Congrats on purchase. They are fun cars. I've had mine for about 5 months now. Also bought on BaT
Looks pretty good! I am not sure why someone in the comments section said it was a mess. Looks like it just needs a little cleaning up.
Does it look as good as it does in the pics?
Why did you think it would stall when it was taken off the trailer?
It looks better than the pics! Seller didn't really clean or detail it at all.
My neuroses made me think it would stall (or die) when it came off the trailer, nothing in particular. Just preparing for the worst!
Ah, ok.
I highly recommend you look into a citrus cleaner to clean up the undercarriage. I use Oil Eater and P21S. I mainly use Oil Eater because it is cheaper. It cleans up oil and grime VERY well! It will clean up those inner wheel barrels as close to looking new as you can get in some cases.

Detroit, my son and I bought a 2002 C4S from a private seller back in August. Paid less than you, but our car has 100k miles. Located in MKE. We had a coolant leak right away. Replacing the tank was a project, but we won!
Need to do IMSB (leaning towards LNE Retrofit), plugs, coils, AOS, clutch, etc in 2021. The car is amazing!
Enjoy yours.
First of all congratulations! Second, don't make you ownership fearful of it's own shadow. These are great cars! Just make yourself aware of the well-known weaknesses and make proactive measures to correct them. I had a cracked coolant expansion tank too as well as most owners here on Rennlist. You definitely want to replace it asap. And, only replace it with a genuine Porsche part.
