Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They used the name because of the success of the 550 Spyder at the famous Mexican endurance race called the Carrera Panamericana.
Leading evidence: 'Use name' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is '1 of 1 car' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check back' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
Always raises my antenna to suspect rear collision damage, although I know that's clearly not the case here.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It's a sad day for me, but I've posted my 911 on BAT.

This is probably one of those "life happens" sells. Owner doesn't want to have to sell it, but life forces him to make priorities and part with it. For me, I didn't want to sell my last 996, but my daughter was graduating and entering college and my youngest was turning 16. Both of my daughters have worked hard in school and so I want to be there to support them as much as possible and when there comes a financial need, then I feel it's right to part with things I don't need like the weekend fun car. They'll always be more Porsches down the road when things balance out.
All the best to the OP in this auction!
The 996 market is pretty hot right now.
It all came from the craze that started 3-5 years ago when you could pickup a 911 on the cheap. Then Youtubers and car super stars, including Magnus, Doug, Farrah, many others started telling everyone how these cars are incredible value and drive like a real 911 should.
Then time went by, the mother of all destruction, causing many 996s to die off or accumulate mileage, compressing the best 996s into 997 pricing (already low, but higher than the usual 996 market).
Notwithstanding, the aero cars, wide body cars, and otherwise more rare cars like the OP is selling - are going to be at a premium.
I dont see a downturn coming anytime soon. Time will continue to push these cars well into the vintage territory, but there are still cars out there that can be had for $17-$20k that will float ones boat.
You hit the nail on the head. I followed this car for 9 years, and finally was able to locate and purchase it 3+ years ago. For me, it was a "lifer," a car I would keep forever, and I treated it that way, just like the other former owners. COVID and a bunch of other things have created the imperfect storm for me (I live in NYC area) and I have decided, after MUCH hand-wringing, to let it go.
I have never seen another 996 specced like this, and definitely not a narrow body. There was a C2 awhile back, black, X51 non -sunroof car, but it had been modified and while a great car, was not optioned like mine. The new owner will have a super rare spec, and a great driving car that has had everything done to it to make it spectacular.
True that. However I'll just say I haven't seen another like it in 10+ years, and I'm nationally involved in Porsches. Service manager at Paul Miller said he had never even seen an X51 C2, let alone something like this.
Let's just say it's rare and leave it at that. LOL
my mechanic said upon being scoped most of these will have "light scoring." I had it scoped while chasing the AOS issue, not for any other reason.
The important thing is absolutely no smoke on startup, oil consumption is absolutely 0, and no noise on startup or when running. I'm an upfront seller and if the car needed any repair it would have received it.
Car was also stored for the winter (documented) so limited cold cold starts, and oil changes before and after storage. Many examples of bore scoring have been seen in northern climates when driven year around, it seems.
Odd choice to have the "Carrera" script factory deleted by the OO. Always raises my antenna to suspect rear collision damage, although I know that's clearly not the case here. GLWS
I have never really understood why Porsche decided to hold Carrera badge by itself, without any 911 or Porsche markings with it. Most non-Porsche people will see it and not care what it means or have to look elsewhere to figure out what the car is. Because the 911 shape is so ubiquitously Porsche, shouldn't be too hard, but Id rather see 911 Carrera back there or just 911.
Plus, I always think Spanish when I think of Carrera. Isnt the etymology for Carrera actually Spanish?

Yes, it is rooted in the Spanish language. They used the name because of the success of the 550 Spyder at the famous Mexican endurance race called the Carrera Panamericana.
Also, this is a really great wiki read:

Wow! Congratulations!
is it where you expected $$ it to go? I would have guessed closer to 33-35k. Some here brush off the X51 package/performance and not worth a premium. Your car appears to challenge that. 👍
😊
seller here.
Yes the x51 is a potent option, obviously included on the 40THae and a couple c4s, but extremely rare on a c2 from factory. I have seen one other true one for sale, and the car had been modified. But what drove the price iIMHO was the other options in addition-- sport exhaust, sport seats, sport chassis, lowered sport seats, xenons, etc. The badge delete is the icing on the cake for me. I loved the car, and cared for it well. I appreciate the comments and thoughts. I am sad to see it go, and yes, you"'ll be looking for a seal grey (not steel) badge delete good sounding 911 around Monterey area... it was my 6th Porsche and will not be my last.
a lot of factors in play as I discussed in previous post. It went close to where I expected. The x51 certainly helps, but it is all the options together on one C2 that pushed people's buttons like it pushed mine when I found it!
