Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

the tortoise has never needed an IMS bearing replaced, RMS leak, bore scoring, etc etc.

I also used 90% rubbing alcohol but was conservative with it since it’s not readily available due to 19.

I removed it in the back same way (no knife due to defroster, used blue kitchen pad and cotton *****) but the glass is not clear.

I had to use rubbing alcohol to dilute the glue and a new razor blade to remove.

When I did the new razor blade and a heat gun after b3freak encouragement, the second layer peeled off, and then was able to use the Totally Awesome spray to remove adhesive.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 1999 coupe that I purchased back in March 2020 (my COVID escape pod). There was a terrible tint job on driver and passenger doors as well as back glass. I successfully removed side tint with Awesome spray, heat gun, and a straight edge box cutter blade. I removed it in the back same way (no knife due to defroster, used blue kitchen pad and cotton *****) but the glass is not clear. Is this normal? I thought maybe it was residual glue, but it is even across the whole surface, and I worked a little too hard and looks like I might have scratched the finish. I did a search on back glass, and all I could find was for cabs. Any help is greatly appreciated.
My go-to cleaner is P21S Citrus Spray and Oil Eater Citrus spray. I'm still amazed at how it cleans up parts that have oil and grime all over them.
After that, try Goo Gone.
My 996 has old tint on it too. When I removed the tint if left the glue on the window and it appeared just like you image. I had to use rubbing alcohol to dilute the glue and a new razor blade to remove.
Ok cool. I just wanted to make sure wasn’t scratching off a factory coating or something - it’s supposed to be crystal clear like windshield and side windows. Thanks for quick reply. I also used 90% rubbing alcohol but was conservative with it since it’s not readily available due to 19.
If you use a razor blade, make sure you get a brand new one and be extra careful or you may scratch the glass. I would be extra cautious on the rear glass because of the defrost electrical lines.
Had drivers side tint replaced, 2 days later peeling up from bottom. Real sketchy place, so I won’t go back. Now passenger side also has bad place. I’m considering removing from both and leaving rear and back windows tinted.
Turns out there was another tint layer before adhesive. I had previously removed a dark layer of tint. When I did the new razor blade and a heat gun after b3freak encouragement, the second layer peeled off, and then was able to use the Totally Awesome spray to remove adhesive. I can see! Thanks
I put in the Porsche SSK this past weekend and the clutch spring delete. Totally new ballgame. I know I am supposed to change out the orange side lights, but I like them - matches the runny eggs.
picture of the tortoise and the hare. the tortoise has never needed an IMS bearing replaced, RMS leak, bore scoring, etc etc. Just get in and drive (50mph max). Now that I think about it, the FJ40 has never been in the shop in the 8 years I have had it.
