Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2002 C4S. I like the lowered look but I have been there and done that and don't want to do again. Seems to scrape everywhere. I don't want adjustable either. First the cost and second actually adjusting them. I just want one setting. My question, could I go with a tire with a slightly higher side wall? I just drive street and used more as a touring car. With pot holes and stuff, might be a bit more comfortable. Is this a bad idea? Thanks, David

POST 2Original post

I would not screw with tire sizes too much on AWD systems...unless you can keep the diameter ratios close between front and back the same as OEM

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ugh, the tire wall is about an inch or so. Thanks for responding.

POST 4Original post

Did the C4 (not C4S) come with 17" wheels? That's where I would start.

I was there too I always loved the factory lowered look of the C4S but not the US look. Im not a big fan of cars "too lowered" and I didn't want to scrap the car everywhere either, so I decided to go with the OEM RoW springs. They are quite expensive (for just springs) but I couldn't be happier. The car now sits just like a C4S should and I paired them with Bilstein B6 and the performance of the whole setup I think is also right on point

I had 19" wheels and extra low profile tires. I hated it. I moved to OEM stock 18" wheel and the ride was radically different. I know some have even moved to 17" wheel to provide a smoother "touring" ride.

Most, if not all, 17s won't clear the brake calipers.
