Thinking of replacing the cigarette lighter with the 12V socket for the 996. I understand that this equals a loss of the lighter ring illumination. If anyone has this original 12V socket/ smoke free option, can you please post a pic or two ?

I replaced mine with one of these a couple of years ago: Amazon Amazon It fits flush and looks OEM. The LED color matches my 996.2 dash fairly well. I didn't use the rubber cap. I also wired it into the telephone power so it is only powered when the engine is running. I have since added an always-on cigarette lighter outlet to the side of the console so I can easily use my portable air compressor, or a charger, or any other device with a cigarette lighter plug. I've posted pictures a few times in the "What did you do to your 996" thread. I'll take another picture later and post it here if you're interested.
