Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

But supercharged, full exhaust, stiffened valvetrain; with a cage, running on race fuel and getting about 1mpg in the city made it not good for rational use (hence the Corvette purchase to be DD).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

What's that in front of the Murcilago? I can't quite make it out. Is the bug your back up DD?

POST 6Original post

Will this one remain stock or do you plan another interesting engine swap? Tell us about your current 996, miles, owners etc.

I was thinking the same , looks like a Lotus Sent from my iPhone using Rennlist

Yeah it's an Elise. That and the Beetle (1.8t/5spd) are my girlfriend's car. No major plans. It needs tires and alignment. So I'm thinking turbo wheels and coilovers to justify those needed repairs. Muffler delete. Misc maintenance and repairs. If the motor lets go, I will have to go with another LSx swap. Low owners, high miles, decent records. Totally stock.

POST 9Original post

I knew you would be back congrats on the purchase. Nice choice of cars

POST 10Original post

Very nice. You and the girlfriend have great taste in cars.

POST 12Original post

I gotta ask: How does the 996 compare with Lamborghini. Suppose the Lambo is a 10 and the Bug 1.8t is a 1. Where does the 996 stack up?

Since I got rid of my LS1 996 (which the current owner keeps making better). I had the following for daily driver: 800whp Viper GTS, '99 Corvette FRC (hard top) with bolt ons. The 996 is hands down the slowest, but is the most comfortable. Really, none of the cars we own compete in any way with the others. Lambo : extremely difficult to drive around town, a monster on the highway, the exhaust note is orgasmic, ultra high quality interior materials. Lotus : go kart. Goes exactly where it's pointed, quick if you ring it out (which adds to the go kart feel), overall fun, and incredibly difficult to get in/out. Beetle : lightly modified & fully optioned, has enough pep to get going, comfortable, makes turbo noises, can haul lots of stuff, and doesn't seem to age. 996 : well laid out interior, decent power, good looks, proper gearing to make best use of the available power, in stock form it's a great GT car. With coilovers and good tires, the 996 has the best turn in of any car I've driven. Thanks!

POST 14Original post

Viper is fun for about 30 minutes then you want to get out for a break.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The Viper in mostly stock form is a good place to be, I had a '99 ACR for a daily a few years ago. But supercharged, full exhaust, stiffened valvetrain; with a cage, running on race fuel and getting about 1mpg in the city made it not good for rational use (hence the Corvette purchase to be DD). It was scary fast. Viper Rev - YouTube Viper idle and rev - ROE, 708 cam, valvetrain upgrade - YouTube

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Fun fact of owning a new car, especially a German. Going through all the standard maintenance and upgrades. Going to have a lot of new parts coming in. Currently looking for used cat deletes, muffler deletes, silicon intake hose and block off plug.
