Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 1999 996 narrow body with 18" wheels and purchased a set of chromed turbo twist 18" wheels via a private seller. Fronts are 8 x 18 and the rears are 11 x 18. Unfortunately Fed EX ground has LOST one of the rear wheels and I now need to buy a replacement. Obviously I need to make sure I buy a MATCHING wheel. Attached are some photos of what I bought and a photo of what I've found as a replacement for the one Fed EX lost. Can one of you guys please review and help me choose the right wheel to purchase? The photo of 4 is what I bought (less the missing rear wheel) and the individual pictures are of the single wheel I think is the right one for me to buy HELP would really be appreciated!! and Thanks in advance

Two important things: - Match up the part number from rear. For example, if the lost wheel was a rear wheel, match up the part number from that wheel with whatever new one you're interested in buying. The part numbers are stamped on the rear side of the spokes. - Make sure you are matching up either solid spoke or hollow spoke depending on which you have. This shouldn't really matter if you match the part numbers but just from casual searching, you'll know based on the back side spokes whether you need to further inquire any more questions to the potential seller. Another important thing is to assess if the chrome is done aftermarket or not. You don't want your last wheel or your other 3 wheels looking different from wear(flaking and such) over the years.

POST 3Original post

Will those fit a NB correctly? The factory sizing is 7.5 in the front and 10 in the rear. We have them on ours, but need a new set due to flaking and rash.

POST 4Original post

I can't see the markings on the 3 wheels you bought, but the single chrome wheel is marked "11 45" by the valve stem, which is 11" width , 45mm offset. Definitely a wide body wheel. OEM wheel specs on my 2004 C2 (Narrow body) were 8x18 RO 50 in front ("8 50") and 10x18 RO 65 in rear ("10 65"). That 11x18 RO 45 rear will stick out 1.2" more than stock and likely rub. Also, are you sure the wheels you originally bought are OEM wheels? If not, it might be pretty difficult to locate an exact match.

I just realized OP purchased the Turbo offset 11" wide versions for his NB. So although technically these can be made to fit with some negative camber, these aren't really "correct" for this model car. These did also come in solid spoke 10" rear wide versions specifically for 996 NB cars but they are somewhat rare. So gnat, do you have the proper NB specific ones then in the Twist II variety like above?
