Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everybody, The starter of my 996 3.4 '98 sometimes keeps turning after starting during 2 seconds. Maybe its something with the starter itself but i wanted to replace the starter relay at first, now I dont know which one it is... Can someone tell me which one? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Remove one and try the start again. When the starter does not kick in. You found it.

POST 3Original post

There is no starter relay there. It is on the top of the starter. It handles a very large amount of voltage and amperage directly from the battery to turn the starter. There are lower voltage fuses involved with the starting circuit, however those seem to be working fine in your case. If the starter is staying engaged after the engine starts, more than likely it is the starter bendix going bad. Either way, buy a new starter/relay, remove the old one and replace, then enjoy the rest of your day.
