Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at replacing 996 ducts with the gt3 version. The stock (lower in pic) version has a round cutout at the top for steering arm travel. GT3 doesn't. Is that cutout not needed, as I don't see anyone talking about the cutout? Surely don't want anything hitting the steering arm, even if rarely with plastic.

POST 2Original post

I installed them and there was no issue with the missing cutout ('99 C2). Maybe it's to clear something on the C4 model?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I dove in to swapped them out. Before & after photos: Steering rack tie rod is directly above notch on full wheel lock. GT3 ducts leave about 1/2" gap. Maybe rod comes close on full compression, full lock turn.

POST 4Original post

I had no issues w Ducting fitting. Cold plastic can be tough to manipulate Cheap bump in braking cooling for low price. Used them on my Boxster S also.

POST 5Original post

I havent had issues with original carerra, GT3 or Cup ducts hitting the suspension, even on x74 ride height w/ GT3 lower control arms. However, I have had issues with the Cup ducts hitting the road on occasion, since they are so deep and the ride height is so low, so I went back to the smaller ducts.
