Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The last time I did this, I used a Harbor Freight 1000lb hydraulic lift table, with a harbor freight transmission scissor lift (with casters removed), car on a 4 post lift with the engine supported by a home made engine support bar (backed up by a pair of threaded post stands, placed after the picture below).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've done it a few times, and every time the installation is a pain in the neck. It eventually works out, but is often a hassle - lots of wrestling to get things lined up properly. Getting the transmission input shaft properly aligned with the splines on the clutch seems to be the biggest issue. What setup works for you? Any tips or tricks? (Please ignore the mess/pile of parts in the background...)
