Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If there is play can it be adjusted, my friend had a vw beetle with play in the rack and there was an adjustment to take out the slack , a nut with a lock ring on the rack , anything on these to adjust ??

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys , looking for a bit of advice with the behaviour of my steering So up to now I've replaced inner and outer track rods , had all the alignment done aswel So basically on normal road my steering feels ok , reactive with a slight bit of weight in the feel When I get on the motorway however things change , the steering goes really light and almost feels like there is play in the wheel and I have some vibration , need to get the front wheel balance checked but what about the lightness and play feeling , I'm thinking the rack can't be anything else can it ??

POST 2Original post

Maybe your toe settings are too neutral. A little more aggressive toe might help (only to the maximum specifications allowed, or just below). Vibration is probably wheel balance.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Joe I'll ask them to check when I get the front wheels re balanced , can racks be a problem do you know? If there is play can it be adjusted, my friend had a vw beetle with play in the rack and there was an adjustment to take out the slack , a nut with a lock ring on the rack , anything on these to adjust ?? Or is it a rebuild on the rack??
