However, doing the front-to-rear inspection also included checking the drain ports that are inside the rear wheel liners (front side) and found this: easy to clean out, and ready for another 20 years of dust and stuff collecting.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

New to me with only 66K miles, but one of the threads I read enlightened me, and I was able to correct a problem before it became one. Leaking roof drains ( https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ow-to-fix.html ) was the thread, and since the car stays inside unless driven, I wouldn't have known of a blockage if it rained, and if the car got wet on the floorboards the assumptions might have caused a lot of extra steps. However, doing the front-to-rear inspection also included checking the drain ports that are inside the rear wheel liners (front side) and found this: easy to clean out, and ready for another 20 years of dust and stuff collecting. For those that haven't yet inspected your roof drains, a word to the wise...

POST 2Original post

I have learned so much from the forums over the last 15 years.. as someone who grew up with out a dad in the house... these forums rock for diy stuff.

POST 3Original post

Thank you for posting this. I wanted to check when I changed my rear tires a couple weeks ago but it completely slipped my mind. Sounds like a good thing to do this weekend.

POST 4Original post

Yeah, these 996s are enthusiast cars now, like the old air cooled SCs and 3.2 Carreras were 15 years ago. Which means people love working on them, doing maintenance, improvements, repairs. And Rennlist is the best.
