Wonder if they wound up replacing the panel, instead of repairing the holes?

Absolutely cannot see and shade differences on that or the rear decklid, bumper, etc., and if you know the Lapis Blue, it changes light in various light.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Glad it worked out though - body work and leather repair.
Just got the 996 back from the accident (see thread, accident #2). I must say, Import Paint & Body did an outstanding job! I had them repair/repaint the front bumper too and it looks brand new! Absolutely cannot see and shade differences on that or the rear decklid, bumper, etc., and if you know the Lapis Blue, it changes light in various light.
One issue did come up. Evidently someone got in the car with a screwdriver or something at the shop and poked 2 holes is the leather! They seem to be taken care of it fine, having a leather guy come to my house tomorrow (yes, on Saturday) to repair it.
Has anyone ever had to repair their leather? He said he would repair it on the spot. How does that work? can you tell? Does it look/wear OK afterwards?
I would think any patch they put on would look like a patch. If it doesn't look good to you, I would have them buy you a replacement seat! They are insured against stuff like this.
Sorry to hear about the leather damage. Let him fix it and see how it looks. These specialists can do amazing things to repair this type of damage. ONce it is repaired, if it is not to your satisfaction then request a replacement of that section of the seat leather.
Also, you might want to close the duplicate thread you created. To do that, go to that thread and at the top of the page click on

Got the repair done and it's absolutely amazing! I can't see where the tears were! They were the size of a quarter but now absolutely gone. I would recommend this to anyone who has leather damage. I'm still amazed.
I know I wish I had
I did want to make sure all saw this post. I'm telling you, the work this guy did was unbelievable! If you can imagine poking 2 holes in your seat w/a large screwdriver and ripping it about 1/2 inch, that's what these holes looked like. Well, I got eagle eye (my wife) out to look at it last night and she absolutely could not figure out where the tears were! The very lady who catches me eyeing a bikini from 100 paces wearing sunglasses could NOT find these tears.
If you ever tear the leather, this is a very viable alternative to replacement. If you're in the NC/SC area, I'll get you this guys number.
Boy!! What a relief!!
Wonder if they wound up replacing the panel, instead of repairing the holes? You would have to see something if they repaired it....right? Glad it worked out though - body work and leather repair.
I think he just patched it. He matches the color on the spot. I didn't see him do it, but that's pretty much what he described. he did the work in my driveway. I never even met him. It was all done over the phone. said he's done it for 30 years. I know I'm happy!
