Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

By the way, can I use the stock 3-point belts with the GT3 seat, or does installation of the seat require a harness?

Maybe I can find someone in the DC area who has one I can test-sit.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is the back of a GT3 seat any taller than the back of a standard 986 seat?
I'm 6'4", and the back of my head sticks over the top of the standard seat in my '99 Boxster. Comfort is not a problem. Yes, I would like to stretch out more, but I'm fine. However, a recent accident has made more urgent a little fear of mine. I was in a fairly low speed (about 25 MPH) frontal collision with a car attempting a left turn in front of me. My seat belt was on, my air bags went off, and I'm fine. However, I consider myself very lucky that nobody was behind me. If I'm ever hit from behind with any force, I'm sure that the back of my skull will hit the "padding" that covers the front of the roll bar. I imagine that would result in a concussion and/or fractured skull.
So, would a GT3 seat protect the back of my head??? Safety for my noggin might be a good excuse to upgrade!
I'm a "narrow body": 6'4" and 190 lbs. Maybe I can find someone in the DC area who has one I can test-sit.
By the way, can I use the stock 3-point belts with the GT3 seat, or does installation of the seat require a harness?
Thanks!
Mark
At 6'4", you may want to get the BK lowering mounts, which increase headroom quite a bit. In my case (also 6'4") it made wearing a helmet a far more comfortable proposition, and it may improve your chances of passing the broomstick test in a Boxster.
My main concern is having seat behind my head, rather than roll bar. It seems that the GT3 seat is likely to do the trick. I read that the back of the GT3 seat is 34" (from butt to top). My '08 Mitsu Lancer is about the same, and there is plenty of seat behind my head.
I would certainly love to sit in a GT3 seat as a test. I'll have to see what I can work out. I saw online the car at HBL. Nice! We'll have to see if I'm up for a trip around the DC beltway on this holiday weekend
Is there anybody out there in the DC/Baltimore area with GT3 seats???
Thanks for all the replies!

I have gt3 seats with the bk mounts and I measured 33 1/4" from the pad to the top of the seat. Following that same angle up to the headliner, it was 38 1/2". I have the Schroth 6 points for the track and use the stock 3 points for the street. Absolutely love the seats - my only caution would be how your hips fit, as others have mentioned...
Hope that helps.
