POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am looking to get a new front bumper for my incoming 996 and I was hoping you guys help me decide which way to go. These are the options. Just a lip #1 Turbo kinda look #2 Another turbo looking #3 Yet another one #4 I dont want to have the heavy look, but I want it to give it a different look. I have a narrow body, and I will also put the turbo back, the one with the small vents at the side. What do you guys reccommend

POST 2Original post

I am going through this same process myself right now. I think the top 3 are good but the Tech Art style really needs the rest of their parts to finish it off IMO. I do like just the lower lip addition but a complete replacement bumper has it advantages as well. Good luck, I know I needed myself.

POST 4Original post

Full Techart, baby. Make sure it's the real deal and you do the full kit. I absolutely cannot stand the chick wire mesh grills. It makes the car looks like a kit car. Ridiculously bad. Much better use would be abs plastic as found on the E46 M3, RS4, et al.

POST 5Original post

Have you given the Ruf front bumper any thought? It's a looker -td

POST 6Original post

+1 with Riad.....not too flashy yet sets it apart from the others. I think the turbo fornt belongs on a turbo..C4S, etc...not the standard body. Have fun, J

POST 9Original post

get the GT3 body kit from Porsche, it looks way better

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was thinking of #2 with black mesh instead of silver mesh. I am not too fond of the RuF front, since its kinda a squared look for a round car. I do like it, but I need to love it to put it in my car. And I dont like the techart sides to complete the kit. I will complete whatever I put in the front with the aero sides and the turbo rear. I might have to go custom, since I am looking for a "subtle turbo look"

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh, and I dont feel too much the GT3 kit.

POST 12Original post

I am with Riad as well #1...... Almost home 2 more shows!!!!

POST 13Original post

Cool dude... can't wait until you come back to the area! 50 cent is next? Ugh...

POST 15Original post

Raty, The MkII front with matching side skirts are quite sharp too. Having a prefacelift car, I had to go aftermarket and went fibergalss (not heavily recommended). I already had the OEM side skirts, otherwise I would have chosen the MkII which match nicely with the front bumper. Just more options to make your decision harder. He He . But is in keeping with a more stock look. MkII Aftermarket Side View RB

POST 16Original post

Option 1 is the best looking. The rest are just butt ugly. To say that you would see them on a Honda would be an insult to Honda.

POST 17Original post

#1 w/out the mesh. I remember when there were guys here going to Home Depot to buy mesh to put in their grills - tacky!!

POST 18Original post

#1 or the GT3 like mine I think the colour of the car will also depict the body package IMHO

POST 19Original post

+1 I forgot that point. Mesh is fine if you're keeping chickens, but has no place on a Porsche.

POST 20Original post

I agree with either full aerokit or #1 w/ a MK1, although I personally wouldnt do what I think youre talking about with the turbo scoops. IMO like putting GT3 on a non GT3 or putting Z06 scoops on a non Z06. Its not a turbo, dont front!

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You really are an ****ole, now Im really confused. That looks nice, although im worried that the price for a facelift would be too much. It looks like you all dont like too much the turbo look. Is that because only turbos should have a turbo look? or why?

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

These guys http://www.xtrememotorcars.com/

POST 26Original post

None of the ones pictured, all ugly on pre facelift 996. All you need is the OEM Aerokit unless you want to insult you Porsche.

POST 27Original post

No, Cargraphic makes the original and the rest is knockoffs.

POST 28Original post

IMHO, and this is only based on pictures you posted which is not a lot because I cannot see the entire car, the Turbo look actually looks too big for the rest of the body kit. It has that 'hey look at me' from the front, but looses that appeal when you go to the sides. So again IMHO, the body kit has to be balanced such as the 1st picture. It is subtle but not too much, it will still get looks. The others will definately get looks but they are expecting more from the car then. Because your thread is about 'only' the front bumper it is going to be difficult for us to know what to approve of. But it's your car and you do with it what you want. I personally would not buy just a front bumper, I would buy an entire kit. More importantly I would want to see one in person. Gl in your decision making and I want to see the result

POST 31Original post

Full Techart complimented with some deep lip wheels.

POST 34Original post

See I like this, the entire body kit compliments each part. Very Nice

POST 35Original post

That is bad ****! I absolutely love that kit save for the headlight covers which are absolutely extraneous. Rennlist is a very conservative crowd.

POST 36Original post

Yeah that thing is obnoxious and cool. You can tell those cars haul ***......

POST 37 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Beauty, my problem is that since I wont have the wide body Im not sure if the techart will fit nice.

POST 38 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sides will be aero kit, and the back maybe the turbo, maybe not, I will decide later. I thought I already posted this. maybe not..

POST 39Original post

See to me that's a big decider as well also having a narrow body (but I am very happy with my MKI kit). So if you have a narrow body, will the body kit make it look like an 'attempt' to be a wide body? Does that matter to you? What will others think and does that matter to you? With a wide body you have more going for you in regards to the final result. Again it's your decision, and as Ben mentioned earlier Rennlist is bit more conservative to these types of mod's, but you will see this type of mod's happening on other forums more often. Nothing wrong with the conservative input but just not as many risk takers here IMHO. If I was about to change a non body kitted car I would take into consideration these factors: 1. Cost (how much money do I really have? Don't do a kit half way because of funds, wait until you can do the entier thing, or just buy the pieces as you can afford them, definately the wrong thing to do is put the front bumper on without the rest, but the urge to do that is understandable with it sitting in the garage). 2. Is the car a narrow body or wide body? (see above about my input on this subject). 3. Colour of the car (it's amazing how different kits look in different colours, advertisers will do there kit on cars that make there kit stand out more, so colour choice is essential to them. But if you have a car that is not the same colour as there's in the advertisement, will you be painting it to be or keeping it the colour it is. If you keep it the same, what will be the result). So I say research and research, I won't knock the end result unless it looks hidious to me which I doubt it will. Again GL in your decision making, keep us posted.

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The car is a narrow body, and I have no intent in making it look like a wide body. There are turbo rear and front bumpers made for narrow 996. I would already have the sideskirts from the aero kit, which I like and I dont want to change. The color would be black. When I said that i might add the turbo rear later it wasnt because of lack of funds, simply because I wanted to see if I liked how it looked with the aero rear or not. Im not sure I like it since its just 2 pieces that IMHO dont go along with the same kit or with anything; but we'll see; maybe i like the aero rear.

POST 41Original post

Thats understandable as you can see from looking around, alot of people with aftermarket aero parts choose to go without the factory aero rear pieces.... If money was no object, my perfect combination would be MK1 bumper or turbo bumper, MK1 skirts, and a misha spoiler. good luck.... These cars can be expensive beyond the payment......

POST 44Original post

I absolutely love the look of the MK1 factory aerokit. It's complete. It flows. It fits! You start going down the path of 1/4 page mag advertisement kits, you are very likely to end up with a car that looks Frankenstein more than 911. That's why the only aftermarket aerokit I'd consider adding to my car is the Techart kit else OEM. Given your other post about wheels which you are also cheaping out on, I say take a deep breath and really think about all the little stuff that'll make or break the look of your car. I personally think putting on any sort of Turbo bumper, rear, whatever is going to look like crap on your 996. SpeedDemon's MK1 with OZ3s looks amazing because everything on it is high quality (OEM in this case). The only aftermarket kit I'd consider for SpeedDemon's car is the full Ruf aerokit. But, again, $$$$s.

POST 45 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, I think Im going to do full aerokit after rethinking it a bit. I wanted to stand out a bit but i dont like the ruf or techart to spend that much on them. And the wheels are not cheap buddy, im using those as reference to show the style. I wont buy anything that is not forged.

POST 46Original post

Looking forward to what you get and the final result with the new wheels. I believe you can get a good kit, wheels and suspension without breaking the bank and the result will be great. No need to overkill unless you do want to drop gobs of money, but then like others have said, buy a TT or equivalent. But I know where you are coming from, trying to make it stand-out and give it the 'Raty' touch, but remember it's your car not ours so do with it what you want. Others like myself like to see new things.

POST 47 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, a friend of mine, who is the one that got me mad about P-cars has a brand new Turbo, and thats why Im in love with it and want my 996 to look like it. But after thinking about it, a porsche stands out by itself, and the aero will be more than enough with a nice set of wheels, good suspension; and that beautiful exhaust note. oh right, and the spinners!!!
