Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I bought my car a month ago the dealer had to send me the second key. It arrived today and appears brand new. It is cut for my car and operates the door and ignition but the door unlock and trunk release are not working. Does antone know why this would be?

POST 2Original post

You have to have it programed. They should have told you this.

POST 3Original post

Not exactly sure about Porsche keys, but many other makes require you have all of your sets of keys with you when they do it.

POST 4Original post

You need these things together at the same time: All your keys Your car A p-car technician The machine used for the programming The machine (I forget the name of it) can be found at the dealer for sure, maybe at an indy.

POST 5Original post

I'm pretty sure only a P dealer can do this as I recall the service manager getting involved one time when i got a new key. he was the only one in the dealership able to access some online database they needed to get codes from. an indy is not going to have that access. reprogamming is covered under warranty if you are lucky enough to still have that (but not covered under CPO).

POST 6Original post

If you did a search on "most frequent topics", this one would have to be in the top 5. 1. car (not key) has be programmed to recognize any new key. 2. requires a PST2, or the newer version of tester. 3. also requires a code from PCNA that, to my knowledge, is given only to Porsche dealers .... so and indy with the tester cannot do this job. 4. I did not take all my keys .... only gave them the two new ones. 5. cost is all over the map. In Atlanta (Hennessy), I paid less than $50 for two keys, and it was done in just a few minutes while I stood talking to the service mgr.
