Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace restrictions a long time ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check facts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

With stereo Bluetooth of course, there may be more options for integration than just the hard connector option that is used for the iPods.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Visitors are still not allowed to bring camera phones into a secured facility.
Figured I bring it up now and give the manufacturers a few months head start on working the new iPhone into their MOST interface plans.
Eric, can you ask your team what their plans might be - if they have any already?
With stereo Bluetooth of course, there may be more options for integration than just the hard connector option that is used for the iPods.
We're doing that group buy thing for the iPod integration. Seeing as the iPhone is not yet out, but is shown to have an iPod connector at it's base, I'd feel pretty good about being able to connect that sucker at some point. Surely software revisions would be needed to bring all data into the PCM, but it should at some point in the near future be possible.
OK - my iphone is here!
How about some integration?
Any news yet Eric?
For those of you already iPhoned up, here's a nice iPhone wallpaper to customize your phone
Looks great seeing the Porsche crest light up every time someone calls
And yes, it's well worth $600
I don't think the i-phone is going to be as popular as people think. They are easy to hack and get control of any information that is stored in them. I work for a major defense contractor and we were just notified that i-phones won't be allowed in the building as they are now listed as a major security threat.
Unfortunately, I still need to use my iPod. When I plug the iPhone into the Alpine iPod connector I get a message on the iPhone letting me know that it is plugged into an unsupported device. Very disappointing that the connector fits perfectly but is unsupported.
iPhone would never be allowed into a secure facility -
it's a camera phone!
The hacks have nothing to do with it - and are in fact hacks to allow the phone to be activated outside of AT&Ts network - not to steal any data.
Post us a link on how the phone is 'easy to hack and get control of any information that is stored in them'.
I'm also thinking that selling 700,000 units in the first weekend probably qualifies as popular.. But that's just me.
Camera phones are allowed in secured facilities. They changed the restrictions a long time ago. Initially they had special waivers that had to be signed. Using a camera phone for illicet purposes is on the same level of distributing proprietary documents and controlled under normal non-disclosure, security and export controls. Visitors are still not allowed to bring camera phones into a secured facility.
They may have sold 700K the first weekend, but our almost 100K employees and the employees of other defense contractors will not be so willing to take a risk until the security ban gets lifted. Best guess is regardless of how serious the hacks actually are, they will most likely continue to be banned until the security gets improved.
Camera phone are not allowed in the secure facilities I work in - they are explicitly banned.
You're not getting an iPhone anywhere near these guys, or any other digital camera/phone device for that matter.
As the 'hacks' haven't even been able to exploit a single remote access into the device, you're doing a great job of spreading the FUD.
Keep it up - however you'd have better luck proving Paris was clean and sober.
As for the popularity of the iPhone - this is a quote from AT&T.
AT&T has "sold more iPhones than in the first month of any other wireless phone AT&T ever offered. That's how good it's been."
But if you want to keep pushing the line that it's not going to take off - best of luck to you.
Facts say otherwise, but why bother with the facts...
Gotta agree with cdodkin - not a single security hack has been published on the iPhone. Someone is blowing hot air.
Please check your facts.
All current hacks are connectivity hacks to open up features that are disabled by software, connectivity based, or the uploading of new software.
The closest that has gotten to a real hack is opening up a command line shell and that's not a big deal considering that you actually have to be in possession of the phone (as is the case for all of hte hacks).
There has not been a demonstration of the software being manipulated remotely, nor any evidence of virus vunerabilty.
We're not talking about Windows here, this is an Apple product.
99% of the world does not work in a high security environment. I would be shocked if the iphone isn't a major major hit along the lines of the ipod. And as slick as the ipod is, I've never really been blown away by it. But the iphone is in an entirely different galaxy than the other cell phones out there. The more I use mine the more I fall in love with it and this is just the first version. Software and later hardware updates will make this phone even more desirable.
It's very slick, but it doesn't do anything really better than most of the smartphones out there already. I think it needs a year or two to bake in and pump it up a bit.
Plus, I drop my phone at least once in its life so I need this thing to be more durable and I guess I'm just too cool for school to use a protective cover or do the belt clip thing (hell no).
So then it becomes more of a burden for real world use. Utility. It's a lil laptop you're carrying around without nearly the laptop functionality.
I'd like to hear more about interfacing the iPhone to the Pcar, but:
I think the significant thing about the iPhone might be the way it does things, even more than the list of things it does. The user interface
Surfing the web on a handheld device has always been kludgy, and I think Safari running on an iPhone will be a good user experience - especially with wifi. I also like the ability to show pictures on it and video is nice - the screen is very dense with pixels. The iPhone will be copied, but I think they have it patented up the yinyang. As for the "corporate Email incompatibility" - Just try to keep any CEO from having one - everyone wants one. That sums up what I know about it.
Can't wait till we can get them in Canada.
BTW - do new P-cars have Bluetooth available?
You hit the nail on the head!
My previous pda phone had email and web, but nothing at all like iPhone - there's no comparison.
It's real web rather than the cut-down version on WM5, and fully rich Email.
It will Pop3 access your Email, or IMAP access (even from Exchange if you switch IMAP on).
Then of course the iPod on the iPhone with coverflow is awesome - no need to carry a separate iPod any more - and it plays video as well!!
I'd love to get it hooked into the P-Car
Anyone who's interested should pop into an Apple store or AT&T store, and experience using the touch screen interface - looking at a video just doesn't do it justice.
As for drop-ability - well people have good reports online about survivability - I hope I'm not going to test it out anytime soon.
I'm one of those luddites that just needs a phone to make a phonecall - nothing more, nothing less.
Much as I love my large collection of Apple products, I doubt that the iPhone will be added to the collection.
Im just waiting for the 3g hsdpa radio. I do alot of surfing, mapping and email while on business trips, so its a must. Wifi is good option, but edge is insufficient when around town. Other than that the device is very beautifully designed and the interface is slick. Its ashame a device with so much potential to shut other companies down is missing simple things like 3g, 3rd party software ability, attachments to emails, and a non removable battery.....
