Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings: My car, 2000 C4 keeps throwing these codes, 1128 and 1130. I cleared the codes about 2 weeks and the codes came up again. I've been told by Autozone the problem is the O2 sensors. Has anyone else had this problem before, and what did you do to correct it? thanks

POST 2Original post

Extremely unlikely you need O2 sensors. Thos codes are reporting that your engine is running too lean. Both banks on the engine. This can be casued by many things including vacuum leaks, intake leaks and exhaust leaks and dirty MAF. Other causes might be fuel pump problems or clogged njectors but that is unlikely. Check for intake and vacuum line leaks and clean your MAF with electronics cleaner.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for your reply. I need to take my car thru Md emissions by the 19th of this month. Will these codes cause me to fail emissions?

POST 5Original post

You may want to take the MAF out and clean it, it is easy. There is a servo on the butterfly that modulates the intake at idle that also needs cleaning. I got screwed at my repair shop for the same thing you are having but I spent $1200.00 for nothing. They replaced me MAF and threw out my old one. I started up the car and got the check engine light again. I removed the entire intake, cleaned it, reset the ECU and it was fine.

POST 6Original post

Also if you are running a K&N your problem is that. The oils in it kill the MAF.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks again for your replys. I'm going to start cleaning tomorrow.

POST 8Original post

I am having the same problem on my 99 C4. I have cleaned the MAF but the codes keep returning after 3 weeks or so. I have also notice a gasoline smell for time to time too. Where is this butterfly located at?
