Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Put in a new Interstate battery today. Since it is not the OEM battery (same class but not the same brand) and I did it by myself does it count as a mod? It has an oval vent and my vent hose is round so have to find a way to adapt that so shouldn't that certainly move me over the wire into the "mod" category? Come on guys, I have virtually no automotive skills. How about some support!

POST 2Original post

You Drive A Nicely Modded Porsche dude...lol :-)

POST 3Original post

OK, I'll call it a mod..... but only if you post a pic of your car!

POST 5Original post

Well, you could consider putting something like this in a mod: It fits in the stock location (albeit into a different slot, the smallest one), and is a good 25lbs+ lighter than the large battery.

Ahmet, That looks like 1/2 of a set for early twin battery 911.

POST 8Original post

NEIN! They make a Cayman for people like you! BRB, going outside to put lead weights and two extra batteries into the rear bumper. The battery is the size specified for the accessory battery of an e38 BMW 740iL if anybody's interested BTW.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to the Interstate Battery store and got the oval vent adapter to the round hose porsche part. I'm counting that as a successul mod. Read it and weep.

Did you purchase the Interstate model MTP-H7? No adapter should have been needed. It matches factory exactly (Except for the fact that it has about twice the CCA and will last more than a year).

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went with MTP-91 per their site and the hard copy docs at the store. It fit perfectly in the tray for a pre-drilled bolt down bracket and where the old Exide batterty was. There is however a few inches of tray remaining on the left (facing the battery) presumably to accomodate a longer unit. The bracket is on the left and holds the battery down firmly so there won't be an issue with the extra tray length. Like I said in the initial post, I have virtually no skills but it is firmly in place and the car starts. Hope I did it right.

If not done right, your IMS will go out.

POST 13Original post

boy I dunno it that was a good mod or not. I am sure it is not as heavy as the OEM and the springs so finely tuned you may have just upset the balance of the handling
