Last weekend, another Rennlister (thanks Reggie) was nice enough to let me drive his car at Willow Springs, and it is very similar to mine with an extra ~45hp. But the part I liked the most was the turn in and how well it handled. Could be all the extra camber, but it also had 245 fronts.
I can only run around -1.5 camber in the front so my idea was to put bigger tires on. I am installing my row m030 springs this summer and was wondering if the 245/35/18 z214 will fit on my stock 18" wheels without rubbing.
US M030 with 1.4 negative camber up front, 245/40/17 hoosiers on a 9" rim up front no issues on the track. Rubbed wheel liner at full lock backing out of driveway onto street.
What is your goal? Better handling or grip? What you are proposing gives you neither. In fact, running a wider tire on the same size wheels slows turn-in. If you are running the same tire pressures then you neither increase contact patch or grip. The only way to increase grip is to increase contact patch, which means running lower tire pressure. If you lower tire pressure, you increase sidewall flex more and degrade handling.
Most likely the difference from the other cars are a combination of camber and race tires. MPSCs need a lot of camber to grip (> -1.5). Without that much camber, they don't grip or turn in well. There is also a big difference between running race tires and street tires.
I hope you are looking to get more than just ROW M030 springs. You need to buy the whole suspension kit that comes with the matching shocks, bump stops and sway bars. The stock shocks (especially the rears) are not valved correctly for ROW M030 springs. The rear shocks also don't have as much travel as the ROW M030 shocks. The M030/ROW M030 sway bars also take a lot of the understeer out of the car. My advice is to start with the suspension and change nothing else first. Then start looking for another set of wheels to run race tires on.
I just tried to put 245/40 - 18 MPS II's on my car up front and they just barely rubbed the inside front liner at partial lock. I bet you 245/35 - 18's would just clear.

I made my own combo using gt3 sway bars, m030 springs, and bilstein HD shocks. I am limited to that spring because of the class I am running in with POC. I am already running z214's and enjoy it, I was just looking for a way to increase the handling a bit.
