Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, just joined today. Im in the market for my first Porsche. Looking at 2 cars, one is a 2000 911 C2 cab, and the other is a 2001 911 C2 cab. Both silver on black, and have same mileage (60,000km). Is one model year that much different then the other as far as reliabilty etc....

POST 2Original post

Welcome. 1999-2001 had very minor changes... howver I do not believe there were any changes from 2000 to 2001.

POST 3Original post

MY2001 saw an upgrade in general interior lighting (went to LED's), improved trunk carpet, and the remote included the seat memory - that's about it (other than a few option colors). Mechanically the cars are the same, MY2002 was the major change in the 996. Good Luck!

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, any mechanical concerns I should know about...I have heard alot about RMS issues on thid model.....I aspect to pay more then what I pay now for repair and maintenance but any surprises out ther?

POST 5Original post

Have a PPI done on any car that you wish to purchase, this will eliminate most surprises. RMS is not as big a problem as it's made out to be, although expensive, it is under $1k, and if not serious, it is not a rush to fix (most do a clutch at the same time to save on labor) - in any event, get a PPI. Do a search here on RMS or engine failure and you will find enough info to keep you reading for days. Good luck.

POST 7Original post

If money is not an issue, you should think in a 2002, thats where big chances are made.
