Any of you ever drive one? They had a 2009 at my local P-car dealer, so I took it for a spin. My take (interested in yours too): Clutch: Really touchy. I don't think I had one smooth start. I suppose I could get used to it. Gear box: Challenging to get the right gear. Again, I suppose you would get used to it. Engine: Impressive, but in my mind I had expected a touch more from 505 HP. Great sound at higher revs. Ride: Wow, big improvement over the other Corvettes I have driven. Very impressed. Of course with the salesman in the car with me I was kind of conservative. I have to admit, I really like the exterior style of the newer Vettes. The interior was rather a disappointment (for a $90K (new)) car. The heads up display was fun. I thought it was an odd choice to emboss "Corvette" into the vinyl dash. Nothing says vinyl like a melted-in logo. Anyway, I was happy to drive away in my 996 C4S.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think they start in the $75k range these days, but I've heard reports of people still getting leftover '09s in the $55-60k range.

Did you feel like you were cheating on your 996 C4S ?

I took a shower afterwords . . .
So what did the vette get replaced with or did one of the salesmen race the guy for title?
I thought the Vette was in the 70K range? Anyway, I agree with what you felt. I have instructed several Z06 guys and the car is just nuts fast on the straights and that sound is intoxicating (which probably gives the illusion of more speed).

I think they start in the $75k range these days, but I've heard reports of people still getting leftover '09s in the $55-60k range. I have to admit that this made me think about my options a little, but in the end I just don't think it's the right car for me. I guess I prefer a scalpel to a battle-axe.
Hi all-- can't remember what it was traded on, but it was on a P-car. By price I was thinking list--not that I have looked at them that much, but there are a few trim options on the Z06 that can take the price up. When I see them on the road I still think "wow." Especially in yellow . . . I really like the new body style. Comfort was great too. A little turned off by the austere interior, but might be influeneced by the fact the original owner for my car went a little nuts on interior upgrades. Still a possiblity down the road, but unlikely. Hey, even Jeremy Clarkson reluctantly started to like the Vette!

maybe like NOT having the hot stamped logo on the vinyl dash? lol

I thought Clarkson was a ZR1 fan I didn't drive the Z06, but I did drive cherry red 426 bhp C6 convertible with incredibly aggressive final drive, was fun. I actually liked the interior in the one I drove, two tone black and tan leather, was very highly optioned though. Drove it in summer 08, for a new car they wanted less than I paid for my 5 year old 911 in 07! Would be in jail if I owned one, they definitely encourage you to mash the gas at every opportunity. Same goes for 911 turbo, sl55/65 etc., just too much power for my streets
The 3Lt package on the vettes gives you a leather dash and door panels, which does help the interior a bit.
On the plus side, if buying new, you can spend a few grand and go assemble your own engine with some guidence... Suprised Porsche never came up with that idea. I think they look great.. Love the flared fender arches. Haven't driven a Z06, just the regular one.

Sounds nice!
The Z06 is actually a very nice package. I've driven a Z06 (on Pfadt coilovers) back to back with a C6 with the Z51 handling package... and the two cars are night and day. IMO, the Z06 had MUCH better steering feel and response. The power and sounds are intoxicating (my buddy's has 3in Corsa exhaust no cats). But I find it a little bit hard to see out of, and there are some interior pieces that are not the highest quality. Overall though, its hard to argue for the performance per dollar... especially on low mileage 2008s which are selling for 49-52K...
I've driven a few. Keep thinking about buying one over another Porsche but can't make myself do it for some reason. It's really hard to fault the newer Z06's esp with the full leather treatment on the inside. I guess in the end it just doesn't "speak to me" like I hoped it would.
They give my car a run for the money - I mean, they are EQUAL once my car gets hot.
