Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Troy and I have recently bought an 01 996 C4. I love the car and lots of plans for it.
The car is Artic silver with the Metropol blue interior.
I have been a German car enthusiast for years and have owned several VWs, Audis, Mercedes and BMWs over the years.
This car is by far one of my favorites. I still own my 01.5 Audi S4 but I am slowly considering selling her to spend more time with the C4.
I will post pictures once I have met my min. post limit.
Also if anyone on here has a custom sound system in a C2 or C4 coupe please contact me. I am looking for ideas for the rear area behind the back seats for a sub enclosure.
They were on the car when I bought it. The previous owner included them in the original order from the factore.. Check e-bay. I have seen similar tips (most were not OEM) listed there. Or check with a dealer. Sunset Porsche or Suncoast Porsche have the best prices.
Thanks for the warm welcome. The car had smoked turn signals and what seems to be smoked tail lights, K40 radar system, XM Sat unit and I think that's about it.
I had the windows tinted a week ago and my next upgrade is the my sound system. I have tons of equipment that is still in the boxes so now I just need to decide how I want things to look.
After that I want to work on the cosmetics starting with the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, some sort of wing and then wheels and tires.
I am still undecided on what suspension to go with but I have time. My final goal will be a super charger but I am at least a year out on that. I just sold a project car that I did a complete motor swap from Japan and had loads of issues because of all the complex wiring. For now I just will enjoy the performance this motor has until I am through with the other mods.
I hope to gain lots of info on this car from a great site like this. That has been my past experience with BMW, Audi and VW forums.
Anyone else from FL? We have a decent VW/Audi following here but I want to meet Porsche people as well.
nice car, intake and exhaust are airly common, I will say the first must do mod is the b&m short shift. $200 fropm eric at bumperplugs.com. also a rennlister. he has a lot of cool porsche parts...
+1. Just got back from a quick drive and the short shifter just gets better and better. I had the OEM installed shortly after getting my 4S. Almost everyone who has the SSK (OEM or B&M) loves it. The throw on the factory shifter is just too long for my taste - the short shift is like a rifle bolt. Great mod!!
Double teamed by Wayne and Tim - what a surprise!
You can laugh if you want to, but I'm damn close to 2200 miles and counting!!
The short shifter really is terrific BTW!
2200 miles! You're doing well.
Wow! I'm pretty sure I've done more than that so far this year.
I polished my exhaust tips this weekend... I wish I'd taken before and after photos, as they shined up so well... I used Mother's Billet cream - good stuff!
Thanks guys, I have a short shifter on my Audi S4 and do love it. I will need to get one for the C4 as well. I have checked out the Bumperplugs site, it's nice for sure.
I can't wait to start working on the car. Today I removed the Becker head unit to find out mine is amplified for sure. Can anyone tell me where the amp might be hiding and maybe if there is a wiring diagram online for it? I assume it is similar to a BOSE system where I will just need to rewire the entire car but I was hoping to just install my Alpine head unit today for a quick upgrade.
I have a complete sound system going in as soon as I have time.
I have worked with audio systems for about 15 years but have only worked on a handful of P-cars. Anyway, thanks again. I was trying to hold off on the intake only because I am planning on going with a super charger which I thought came with some sort of intake as a complete system. Maybe I am wrong on that.

Welcome aboard!!! Great car! Yes...do the short shifter....I just installed milne yesterday. I LOVEEEE IT.....the shifts between gears is fantastic...second gear is much stronger when needed now.....can keep the revs up so easily with the fast shifting action now.
Best,
J
Welcome! Enjoy your good looking car!
Check out an update for your K40. It will just make your present system current. Dealers have it. It's a relatively painless way to keep avoiding tickets.
I need to check it out anyways because it isn't working at all. I get no lights or noise when I turn it on which leads me to think it is no longer functioning.
I love that the car has it but if it doesn't work then I guess I just need to purchase something else.
Thanks for the tip!
Welcome to the BEST 996 forum in the galaxy!!!
Additionally, I would like to thank you for your very nice intro. I always appreciate a nice intro. It shows character and class.
Now, that's not to say those who DON'T give nice intro's are character-less and class-less. Quite the contrary!! There could be many reason's they don't give a nice intro. Could be they are pressed for time because their kid or spouse got in trouble with the law and needs to be bailed out. Could be the wife is yelling at them to get off that damn computer already. Or it could simply be that they are afraid of rejection and no one will respond. So you see, I am a very understanding and accepting Rennlister!!
PS. Stay away from Tim (Gota911). He'll steal your soul!
Yours truly,

That's a very funny comment you left Arr0gant.
I just wish I could find some local people here in Tampa, FL to meet up with. I am sure I will soon enough.
WOW, I must say that is the first time I have ever heard anyone say that about me...... and I thought I had heard it all!
BTW - what the hell does that mean, anyway?
You know it's not even classified as noise unless you hit 4500 rpm pulling away from a traffic light.
I scared the life out of a co-worker yesterday as I overtook her on County Line Road - I deliberately downshifted to give her a roar as I pulled by her. It's a the small things in life that give you pleasure.
I know.
There are two places on my drive home that if I'm lucky I get to overtake. I get shivers down my spine when I make that roaring noise on the way by my unsuspecting victim.
Those days make up for the days when I hit every red light on the way home.
