Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The yellow seatbelts in my car are dirty-looking. Does anyone know of any proven or "special" way to clean them?

POST 2Original post

I had the same question re my Riviera seatbelts. This is the answer I got from a PCGB member who restores old Porsches: don't know what the official answer should be. but with cars i am restoring i have dismantled the seat belts and put the straps in a sink with some warm water and soap suds, when scrubbed them. rinse thoroughly and let dry slowly preferably with some weights hanging from them to stop them contracting/shrinking as they will stretch again in use. taken the opertunity to clean all the clips/buckels/fittings then reassembled and fitted back into the car.

This subject came up recently when talking to our detailer and he had suggested soaking in a bucket of water with oxyclean in it. Said it did wonders.

Thanks for everyone's input. Any other ideas? Please.

POST 6Original post

Woolite 1 to 6 mixture works for me 1 part woolite 6 parts water

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Aaron, Do you just soak them or do you scrub as well? Thanks

POST 8Original post

Yep, scrub away. I like using a terry cloth towel to do the scrubbing. Otherwise it could cause the belts to fray
