Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have read multiple posting on the forums and could not find the answer I was looking for. Basically my issue is the typical problem of the previous owner that has the memory seat that is configured to his seating position from the Key remote. I have an '01 996 and read the owners manual a bazillion times and still cannot change the memory to recognize my new seating position with the Key remote. I tried everything and I just want to disable the stupid thing. I eventually just pulled the Power seat fuse, however, there are times when I want to adjust it a tad bit here and there. Not sure what else to try...

POST 2Original post

It is my understanding that the dealer must preform the function of reprogramming your key. eric

POST 3Original post

There are different settings you have to set for memory. You need to the key setting with the key button in the memory controls. The key setting automatically overrides the memory # button. I had the same issue when I first got my car. Once I reset it for the key, it was fine.
