Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Use porsche plugs (source from Sunset/Suncoast) and buy 2 or 3 coils to have if you need them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
i know this has been discussed a lot of time, but what do i need to do for a tune up on a c4s.
- 6 spark plugs, which ones?
- sparks plugs tubes orings? i need 6 of each?, is this a combo part?
- 1-2 coils in case they need to be changed?, part number?
- oil filter
anything else to make the tune up?
any good source online to buy 996 parts?
paragon, pelican, suncoast?
i will be buying the *boat plug* at waltmart to do the stuff,
thanks alot
Buy the spark plug socket set from KD Tools. It's a 3 piece extension set that has 16 degrees of articulation. It was about $45 USD and made the job much easier. I had tried it with regular extension and could not get in there. Here's a link to the magnetic extensions:

Follow the instructions from Renntech and maybe here. It's pretty easy, but it took me about 3 hours taking my time and removing the mufflers. I don't see how anyone can do this without removing them, espcecially if never done prior.
I bought my plugs from Suncoast for about $60.
I believe the 996.2 doesn't have the tubes and rings, so I did not them. My coils were in perfect shape.
Oh yeah, also buy a small ratcheting tool from Sears that has the 5mm allen tool to remove the coils. This was another tool that made things much easier.
i did ordered the tool
i will buy 6 plugs and orings
6 sparkplugs
1-2 coils in case mine are broken
i was wondering if i need to buy spark plug tube grease????
thx for help
Hold your horses there sport - If you have a C4S then you have 2002 or newer 996.
On the Mk2 the spark plug tubes went away and the orings are only accessable by removing the valve covers, not via the spark plugs.
You probably don't need orings as they very rarely go bad.
I hope for your sake that those are not famous last words.
Use porsche plugs (source from Sunset/Suncoast) and buy 2 or 3 coils to have if you need them. If you don't need them now they are always nice to have when you do.
