These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've finally gotten around to installing my clear headlights. When I use the tool to release the headlight, there is a bundle of wires attached to a connector then to the headlight itself. There is a tie wrap around the whole connector. Do I cut this to unplug the wire bundle to the headlight? I'm not sure if the tie wrap is factory or someone did it previously. Thanks for your help.

POST 2Original post

The wiring harness side of the connector should stay attached to the frame that mounts the headlight so that the connectors separate when the headlight slides forward. The kind of fix you describe is usually undertaken as a shortcut during collision repair.

POST 3Original post

I was thinking the same thing...but I went out and removed a headlight just to confirm, and yes the wiring harness stays in place with the frame.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nothing was caught in my PPI three years ago, but anyway, what do I do now?

POST 5Original post

I'd be surprised if the average PPI pops the headlights. But anyway, since you need to get the connectors apart to get the housing out of the car, you'll just have to undo whatever hack has been done there to keep them together.

POST 6Original post

Is there any way he could be talking about a balast and a aftermarket xenon bulb add on. Probably not on older version headlights, but possibly!!! Does the other headlight look the same?????

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm going to check the other side now. I'm pretty sure these are the OEM lights, but you never know. Thanks for the advice.
