Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Tonight, I replaced the wiring harness for my right tail light and noticed that there simply isn't a bulb there.

I ran a wire from my left fog light to the right one so now both fog lights operate.

Suggestion
But the wiring is there, so it is just a matter of tracing it back until you find the disconnect right?

This way you can remove the lamp to replace bulbs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had read that Porsche disables the right side rear fog for North America, for fear that people will think it's a brake light, but I didn't know how. Tonight, I replaced the wiring harness for my right tail light and noticed that there simply isn't a bulb there. Does anyone know whether, if I bought another fog light bulb and put it in there, it would work?
Sorry, tried a search. It's either not working tonight, or not working for li'l ol' me. Thanks!
hmmm not sure, you've gone further than me with the rear lights. If it was me I would just put a bulb in it and see if it does provide power to it or not, maybe use the existing one. I know that didn't answer your question, just a suggestion without waiting
Yeah, I know. I just put it all back together and washed my hands... thought this would be easier.
Seriously, though, the taillights are beautifully engineered. One solid screw, no flimsy pop connectors or self tappers, sockets all colour coded, slides together like a good shotgun. Somebody cared.
I know. I'm a freak...
But it only goes from the taillight connector to the next sub-harness connector. From there there is nothing connected.
I have both of my rear fog lamps active by simply running a supply line from the active lamp to the inactive line using in-line splice connectors. Be sure to slice into the connector on the car and not the lamp. This way you can remove the lamp to replace bulbs.
Just make sure that your rear fog lamps are only turned on when you are actually driving in fog. Drive with them on at any other time and you automatically win dumbass points.
Thanks, guys. For me, it sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I've got rear fogs on the Mini and the Landy, and I really like them. But the use they get is more often in snow than fog, not an issue for the P-car. (Although I have to confess that I have used the dual rear fogs on the Landy to encourage tailgaters to leave me a bit of space... but again, not an issue for the P-car. Don't get tailgated much in that. : ) )
Thanks for the info.
Must be an old pic of the rear of your car (2004 tag)
Hey your avatar...I've seen that same back drop in the Sleep Train commercial
Nice back drop
