Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 99 C4 Cab has the rear plastic window ungluing from the bottom. Anybody have any links to good shops in NJ (or NY)? I have been calling around randomly. Over the phone, most shops want me to replace the top from costs ranging from $1600 to $2200. I found one shop Rayco in East Brunswick that can sew in a new plastic window for $700, however I don't know how good they are. If someone has any quality reasonable cost recommendations, that would be great. I read the threads on the LA guys paying around $400-$500 for their new window...wondering why I can't find the same here :P. thanks, Amir

POST 2Original post

Amir, I am not sure if they would help you since they deal with targa tops however it doesnt hurt to call them. http://www.carsincnj.com/

POST 3Original post

I cant help with NJ, But i had the local P-dealer (Carlsen) fix mine. They removed the top and got a local upholstery shop to sew in a new one.... its very common and almost certain to happen. looks good as new and re-inforced with the stiches, and the window seems to be a better plastic Cost was $900 here in CA.

POST 4Original post

call these guys, maybe they know of installer in your area since they sell tops. http://www.gahh.com/shop-car-porsche...its-27_57.html give these guys a call too, I think they are in Newark, NJ http://cabrioworld.com/ my guess is that cost of removing the top in order to get at the plastic is steep. Might as well replace the whole top if you are going to go through the hassle.
