Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Selling my supercharged 996 on ebay Item number: 110141022584

POST 2Original post

Seriously, wtf is up with all the poser crap on the car? you have ruined a perfectly good car by representing a car that it isn't. MkII rear spoiler with MkI sides and front. Badged with GT3 logo on rear decklid and centercaps. With the taco wing and the PROPER badging (or debadging) that would be one sweet ride. What a shame. To each his own though and I am sure you love it.

POST 3Original post

Tell 'em how you really feel Dell, dont hold back

POST 4Original post

Gotta run, need to go and get a "Cup" decal to put next to the GT3 on my trunklid.

POST 5Original post

How do you guys past the item nr into the url, I seem to never get it to work =/

POST 7Original post

Don't forget to paint RSR on your sides as well. And add some Turbo Centercaps. Sweet, you just upgraded to a GT3 TURBO RSR CUP. NOW YOU'RE FAST!!! -td

POST 8Original post

I was ready to upchuck once I saw pics, but honestly, badges aside, that is one beautiful looking 911. I thought I was a tough nut, but LVDell, lighten up bud. I've seen far worse examples on this very forum posted up by members no less. Such a conservative crowd we got here. I guess I sit right in the middle between 6speed and rennlist.

POST 9Original post

that is one beautiful car, but i am not sure i agree with badging a car as something it is not. It is a 911 for goodness sakes. each model within the 911 family can stand on its own merit. no need to put fake badges to make it appear to be something it is not. Still that car is a beauty and someone will be lucky to have her.

POST 10Original post

its funny, most people wouldnt know what the hell "GT3" means anyway. And only those that would be impressed with a GT3 over a regular 911 would immediately know that there were no 99-00 officially imported into the states. It is a really nice car though, good luck with the sale. Hey Dell, I was looking at a 99 C4 with aero kit it has the MKI front bumper and rear spoilers and the MKII side skirts. I actually prefer the MKII skirts to the really organic looking MKI's. What do you guys think of that combo?

POST 11Original post

IMO minus the Gt3 badges that is one nice setup, we all can't be perfect. Good luck with your sale.

POST 12Original post

Nice car... I think I like red for some reason. Don't really mind the MKII wing but the GT3 badge and center caps have to go. Car would look really bad *** badge-less

POST 13Original post

Really nice look with the power of a turbo.Good luck on ebay.

POST 14Original post

Yes....beautiful ride. Really impressive setup. Is your reserve under 49K? Very pretty car....love the wheels. Ditto on the badges tho....you don't need them. J

POST 15Original post

I could not agree with Dell any more. You don't put a badge on your car to fake what it is. It is NOT a GT3, and Dell, as someone who owns one is perfectly justified in flaming. Take the GT3 off, dude. That's totally gay (lame).

POST 16Original post

Aw, heck, why not a a Ruf logo? Or just go all out and throw in an AMG logo, a BMW M logo, and....shucks, a Mazdaspeed logo to boot...

POST 17Original post

personally i like it... although i think the taco wing fit more appropriately....... it's a good looking 911 though

POST 18Original post

I've been in touch with the owner of this car over the past 6 months and seriously considered buying it...but California and its damn smog cert requirements would frown on passing a supercharged Porsche. Mfletch and I have been going back and forth on SC'ing the cars. You could get it passed Calif smog...but you'd have to "shop around". I looked into the background of this car and it's really nicely put together. I realize there are some of you out there who don't like the GT3 poseur stuff on it, and neither did I. It really needs the taco wing....but other than that, this car is very clean and presents quite well. I think there's only around 1800 miles on the supercharger...and the interior/exterior are surgically clean. You could almost concours this car. I like it.

POST 19Original post

With the SC on it the car is faster than a GT3 (at least in terms of straight line acceleration), so isn't the owner actually overmodest with the GT3 badge?

POST 20Original post

That's what the point is. It's a really great example (and SC'd as well) that is ovdershadowed by the poser crap. Not even close. Is straight line what these cars are built for? But I'd like to hear what you think his straight line speed is and what mine is. Ben, you are starting to grow some ***** lately. Seems to me that you enjoy telling people to lighten up, chill out, or just flat out dissent with no understanding of both sides. Please, lighten up. Go back and read my post. Yes he got bitch slapped for the stupid attempt at posing But at the same time he was told that he didn't need to do it......and why? Because it is a damn nice car and he is drawing attention away from the real beauty of it with all that fake crap on it. Yes, he was complimented on the car. It's called tough love. To many thin skinned pansies around her have ZERO ***** to give a true comment about something and rather instead just reinforce the stupidity by not calling somebody out. The few times I have taken it a bit to far with somebody b/c I failed to take emotion out of it pause before I post and somebody with the ***** to call ME out I will be the first to own up to it or apologize. Trust me, this isn't one of those situations. **hint, it is when you start getting personal and attacking** So Ben, just relax.

POST 21Original post

I also agree that the GT3 badging is just wrong. I also don't like to see mixed and matched bodywork. I actually think Porsche did a good job of putting together aerokits that each stay true to a single design theme. On top of that they are functional (i.e. generate real downforce, or at least reduce lift, and are balanced). When you start mixing and matching you really mess things up, if not functionally, then definitely visually. So as many others have stated... remove the GT3 badges and put on a taco wing, and this would be a really nice car.

POST 22Original post

Ben - I can vouch for Dell's statement above. I recall a time where I thought Dell "crossed the line" with another Rennlister (emotion got in the way) and told him so in my post. While I agreed with the substance of his response, I disagreed with "how" he delivered the message. Dell responded immediately with two statements: First, he apologized to the other Rennlister, and second, he thanked me for calling him out on on it. The other Rennlister accepted his apology, knowing that emotion was involved in his initial response, and we all moved on to bigger and better things. Dell is a stand-up guy and calls it like he sees it... and there is nothing wrong with that. But as Dell said above, there is no place here for personal attacks.

POST 23Original post

Thanks Tim. I can always count on you to keep me in line Some people just don't like it when I call a duck a duck.

POST 24Original post

Dell, you know that I'm always happy to B!tch Slap you a time or two!

POST 26Original post

on another thread, one guy had a ruf earokit on his 996 and wanted to put the ruf badge on it.... I replied that the earokit does not make it a ruf P-car, dont put the ruf badge. Could not believe that "people were telling me to chill and lighten up", "its his car and what ever pleases him"... I give up with this sh*t...

POST 27Original post

Ya, whoever said that is a complete TOOL. Badging is SUPPOSED to honestly represent your car. Anyone on this forum who disagree's with that, I have no respect for. Where do you draw the line? 911 on a Boxster? Turbo on a '99 C2? What the hell is wrong with you idiots?

POST 28Original post

Dude, I am chill. Let me finish reading your novel here. Hold up, going to get a double espresso so I can unchill a little bit. Ok, just finished. I'm totally one to lay it straight and I know some of the Rennlisters here have ME on ignore because they take my comments personally when all I really try to do is focus on the car itself. I'm a big fan of candor in my professional life as well as in my personal life. It's a tricky thing to master and I don't think one every really masters excercising candor, but you can get better at it. It saves lots of time and heartache as I see it. With all that said, if you could take your post and tell the owner of that car to his face "Seriously, wtf is up with all the poser crap on the car? you have ruined a perfectly good car by representing a car that it isn't" then all right, cool. But if you would word it differently if in front of his face, but get the same point across, then even cooler. I would bet that you'd be a bit more tactful - I would hope you would be. I myself can learn to be a little more tactful with my comments, but still get the same message across, but I will wholeheartedly admit that it's very easy to sound like an arsehole online because we're missing like 80 something % of interpersonal communication by limiting ourselves to the written word only enhanced with some silly icons to the right, to the right. If you're going to be that harsh on this guy on his for sale ad call shame on it and you'd do that in person (that's *****), I think it is an arsehole move and would again tell you to chill out else get your **** potentially kicked... in real life

POST 29Original post

This is starting to remind me of the NSX site.

POST 30Original post

Ben, you make NO sense. You're saying If I went to look at this car, and objected to the badging, I'm at risk of getting my *** kicked? I'll tell you right now. I'd see the fake badge and tell the guy exactly what I thought, then most likely walk away. "You mean to tell me, it's NOT a GT3? Then why the GT3 badge? I don't get it." People don't dislike you because of your candor, it's more because you don't really stand for anything, and you make statements which are mean in nature. It' s not that people don't like you, more that your opinions often aren't respected, by me anyway. It's a culmination of several posts that I have completely thought you we're out of line on. Not only on this board, but E46fanatics, as well. You continue to prove me right, in my mind. You telling Dell to chill and calling people "bud" is annoying, to me. Dell was spot on, IMO, with his assessment. You saying that it's ok, cause you've seen much worse on this board, is a poor defense, IMO.

POST 31Original post

Wow! Common courtesy on Rennlist by GROWN MEN. Maybe he has something.

POST 32Original post

why? nobody put a Type R badge on their cars yet

POST 33Original post

LOL some of guys man take this to levels that are so personal it's comedic which is the reason why I am a paying member as it is pure entertainment because otherwise, i'd never begin to associate with you.

POST 34Original post

Dell, a 996 GT3 has a 0-60 time of 4.3 sec. (MK1 GT3s are probably even slower), the time of a 996 tt is 4.1 sec. (all depending on the source, but you've to agree that the tt accelerates faster), so if a SC 996 C2 has the same hp as a tt but is leighter, then it's 0-60 time must be even faster (clearly not slower). I don't think that gearing or other components have a big influence in this 0-60 comparison but feel free to teach me a different way of physics

POST 35Original post

I won't debate that a SC charge can pull, what I was talking about is that these cars aren't made for that. I was actually asking you what you think the SC cars speed is and what mine is since i have no idea. I measure my speed in terms of sector times, entry/exit speed and lap times so I'd be curious if you had those numbers.

POST 36Original post

I've no idea Dell - sorry! But: I've a RSS Plenum and it feels soooooooo good and fast

POST 37Original post

That was a good one! I actually just laughed out loud and got a funny look from the subs working at my house right now

POST 38Original post

For what it's worth, Redridge has the most beautiful SCd 996 that I have ever seen. It is a Millenium Edition with the factory aerokit and GT3 seats. He told me that he does the 1/4 mile in the high 11 second range. That puts it comfortably in supercar territory. Hwk72, isn't the plenum the poor man's supercharger?

POST 39Original post

No one that I see is taking anything "personal". I just don't think Dell should be told to chill when is opinions is on-the-mark. I am fully behind him on this one and I think the OP hurts his car by fake badging. Dell is right on! You my friend, are way off! You gotta draw the line somewhere, IMO it starts with fake badging!! Do you have the "right" to do it? Sure, go ahead, if you don't mind looking like a total poser!!

POST 40Original post

If you're trying to sell a C2 as a GT3, then sure, you should honestly represent your car. I agree that putting Turbo centercaps doesn't make your car a Turbo, and adding red calipers doesn't fundamentally change your car to an S. But dropping a funky badge on your car for tooling around town is OK by me. Almost everyone likes to differentiate their car - most through mods. Some like to rebadge (including me). It appears that a lot of people disagree with rebadging - while others think being a poser is ok. Personally, I think that at some point, upgrading your car "allows" you to "honestly" put a new badge on, and everyone has their own poser threshold. IMO, the bottom line is whoever makes the payments can do whatever they want. Poser or not. [Just be prepared to face the onslaught here if you make a poser decision and announce it to the world ] -td

POST 41Original post

Right, and the guy is trying to sell is C2 as a GT3!! That's the topic at-hand!! Turbo is a "MODEL-NAME" of a Porsche. Don't put Turbo lettering ANYWHERE on a NON-Turbo car!! That's just gay(lame)! You like red or yellow calipers, fine paint 'em. That's not a badge. I agree, as stated in my last post. Do whatever you want. You just look stupid to MOST enthusiasts that's main goal is NOT showing off.

POST 42Original post

i think we should ALL have the rights to make our ride anyway fit for OURSELVES....... so if you want to even put on a BMW badge on your 911 so be it.......but i think if you're trying to sell the car under false pretense of a GT3 for a regular 911, that's just wrong......... Now with that being said, if you want to make your ride anyway you want to, be prepare to be destroyed by enthusiast if it looks stupid...........

POST 43Original post

See that's where the argument at hand is focusing on. People OUTSIDE the p-car community don't have a f'in clue what really makes the cars different but they DO know what a GT3 is or what a Carrera is or what a Turbo is so that badge tells them "wow, check out that car, that's one of those GT3's!" ERRRRR, wrong answer. To "tool" around town to show the world your insecurities with a badge that says your car is something it is not then go ahead. You are not fooling the P-Car crowd and those are the people that you should be concerned with as they are your fellow enthusiasts and will ask you wtf you are doing with that badge on your car. That sad thing is that without that badge (or with the Carrera or 911 badge) he would have received and TON of comliments from the board about how great of an example that is of a pre facelift 996 with a SC. Instead he has been called out as he is..........an insecure poser. Creating a "Carrera SC" (not 911 SC as that is a car over 30 years old) badge would have been cool and NOT posing. IIRC, somebody had done it and the "SC" was in smaller script off to the bottom right of the naming like the "S" in Carrera 4"S". Time to jump ship from the horse that has been to death. I think the OP knows what his fellow enthusiasts think of his posing.

POST 44Original post

Life sure is grand knowing that people like me don't have to worry about posing and drive the real deal. It's one thing to "worry" about it and awhole 'nother ballgame to call it out. Ain't life grand that you can be critical of the people that are being critical about a critical detail of representation? I agree though that there are people in the world that would love to have these problems. Thanks, now I feel guilty. Gotta run, I am off to sell my cars.

what ever floats your boat Carlos. But remember, at the end of the day, what you have is one sweet *** C2 that has engine and suspension mods to hang with the big boys. That SC signifies what it is, SUPERCHARGED ....but GT3 it ain't. Give me call when you crate in a M64 motor that you want to put your blower on

Ther you go again Ben talking out your ***. Explain again why a 997GT3 would weep?

POST 61Original post

I went back to the eBay add, and I didn't see where he was pawning off a C2 as a GT3. A word search didn't turn it up either. Maybe he edited the add, not sure. I did see pictures of a GT3 badge and centercaps. But I seriously doubt any purchaser would be fooled, much less an enthusiast. In any event, I did see lots of references to Supercharged this or that. Maybe he should add a disclaimer. Or maybe he is targeting the "show off crowd" Then the GT3 badge is good marketing. IMO, looking stupid on purpose is just another choice in life. Hell, I've done it enough on accident to know that it doesn't make a bit of difference in the long run. But, just for the record, when the enthusiasts start paying my mortgage and saving for my kids college education, I'll consider what they have to say -td

72 posts because a guy put on a GT3 sticker on his car you 996 guys are really irritating...he is not selling it as a GT3 and I'm sure any buyer will do their due diligence...

POST 74Original post

Well if that ain't the pot calling the Kettle black then I don't know what is.

POST 75Original post

haha then we would be even! oh wait, my car would still be lighter has anyone noticed Dell has become "upitty" ever since he got the gt3. just kidding dell.

POST 76Original post

Yes it would. I am very jealous of the new figure you have after the nice diet and upgrades As soon as I can come to grips with it I am going to start gutting the 3 for the ultimate track diet. She already lost her cans I would 100% agree with you C. I won't apologize though. Hence the reason I put my 996 forum nickname down on the sig line. To be honest, ever since I started hanging on the 3 board I have noticed just how much different it is over here on the 996 board (I'm not this guy over on the 3 board). The banter here is something to look forward to. I absolutely LOVE going round and round with some of these thin skinned pansies that actually think I really give a damn about the crap I get into with them. It's fun. The only time I really get my own panties in a bunch is when people go from banter to personal attacking UNPROVOKED. If you provoke it then you deserve to get bitch slapped from time to time. And yes, I have had my share of it here. I take it like a man and don't hold grudges. Ben will be off my "ignore list" after he has served his sentence. He knows I am f'in with him (I hope) but I just felt the need to tell him what MANY others won't and have even PM'd me about.....his new attitude since joining. As for the 993 guy, that is just typical. He really has no idea the fun and banter we have over here. It wouldn't be the 996 forum if we just let EVERYTHING slide. 993 guys like to hate, we like to exchange banter on an almost ridiculous level Listen, I know alot of the guys here and have personally met a large number of them in person....whether it be at the track, hooking up when in another town, or just grabbing a beer with a local guy, they will all tell you that the guy you see (read) here on the fourm is just my representative and not the "real" Dell. This place serves 3 purposes for me...(1) to keep gaining knowledge from otheres (2) the keep giving knowledge to others (3) and to be entertained and take NOTHING personal after I log off at the end of the day.

POST 77Original post

yea take your sandbox and play somewhere else LOL this dude is so sensitive and he teaches students? i don't like the badge either, but that's easily changed... that is one sweet looking/performing 996 and not worth the brazen treatment as typed up by dell that he'd never have the ***** to say to the seller's face in person - it's like the dude posts his FS ad all innocently and then this Dell cat jumps at him calling him out as a poser wtf? i'm no angel, but dude chill out is all i'm saying, but now he gets all in a tizzy and says he'll ignore me as if that's going to make me even begin to feel bad? WHAHAHAHAHAHHA ok at ease fellas

POST 78Original post

no apologies needed. like i said, whatever floats your boat. personally i wouldn't put a gt3 sticker on my car but that's my decision. in the same token you are allowed to berate someone for wanting to put that sticker on his car. your choice. for me, i just don't get worked up about **** like this. on the other hand, it's a whole different story if someone defends the lunatic in the whitehouse.

POST 79Original post

Ben, I see you posted something which I can only assume is some snide remark. Understand that all I see is you name and nothing else

POST 80Original post

DOOD, he is passionate and that's why he should be teaching. i had my share of comatosed professors in univeristy and i would take dell any day (assuming he is passionate about teaching as he is with berating posers )

POST 81Original post

WHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA your mom/wife called and told me to treat u nicer - fine

POST 82Original post

Well I guess I get to see what little Ben posted. Ben, I'll have you know that my sections are always full b/c studetns WANT to take my courses. I am VERY passionate and love what I do and teach in a way that students love. Guess what? In my profession you have to have an immense amount of patience or you won't have a job. But by the time I finish a class and jump on RL, my patience has been spent and you get Simon Cowell Oh yeah, and BTW, I also am a National PCA Instructor. If that doesn't take patience, then I don't know what does

POST 83Original post

here have a cookie man it sounds like you deserve it. in fact, have Washington State apple too. i'm sure you're a super nice guy in class and on the track and i couldn't care less really whether u are or not as we're pretty much strangers. if i'm in NC i'll hit u up, but since i'm on your ignore list, i'll have some sort of messenger carry the note to your sandbox.

POST 84Original post

Of course, some poser's are better than others... Not quite sure if the badge placement is quite right by Porsche spec.. may have to inspect a little closer... whaddya think?

POST 85Original post

It's really hard to believe this thread started out with someone wanting to sell his supercharged 996 with a GT3 badge on it. OK...some folks didin't like the poseur part of it. Duly noted. It's still a nice car...and can easily be de-badged to accomodate the difference in individual taste. That could be a negotiating point if someone wanted to consider buying it. Somehow the entire thread has wandered off in the weeds. Good luck on your sale 914GT2.

POST 86Original post

Yep it looks like a perfect job for The Speed Demon

POST 87Original post

I love my P car and have waited a long time to buy one. But please put things into perspective....all said and done, its only a car, chill.. we're not discussing the future of our children or saving the world here. Everyone has personal taste and that is why Porsches are like snow flakes, no 2 are alike. Take a chill pill.

POST 88Original post

Really good point, please NO ONE talk passionately about their feelings/opinions UNLESS it has to do with the future of our children OR saving our world. Thanks Jake, for making us all see the err of our ways!! Oh, and please don't compare my car to a snow-flake!!!!! HAHA

ORIGINAL MSRP $89,030.00 PLUS $22,000 in options- Just a question, was a C2 $89K new in the states?

POST 90Original post

DEll, I think I have to call you out..... "personally met a large number of them in person" hmmmm lol, jk

POST 92Original post

Base was $69K. Mine was $81,135, not full leather, no nav, no PSM, no areo kit. So yes, I could imagine some hit upper $80's or lower $90's.
