Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I've used 2 wheel for years in the snow with snow tires.

I'm definitely going to take a test drive in both and see how I feel...

That gives you the comfort and more functionality on daily drives, but gives you the ability with the "sport" button to tighten things up on the track.

i've been using a C4 and it's fantastic in the snow but i'm thinking it's overkill vs C2S/GT3 with snow tires....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

just wondering, why did you ditch the lotus, thoughts on it ? Did you have it strictly to race with or dual use? Did you get it from huntington?
and please post a pic or 2 of the Noble....
Drive an Elise for 10 seconds and you will know why someone would want to get rid of it. You can flex the windshield at the A pillars when climbing out of the car. The shifter console bends with each shift and so on. I could go on for awhile.
the lotus was made redundant by the Noble and I found myself not driving it... so I sold it.
One of my friends wants to buy my 911 and I do want to have one so I figured I'd upgrade.
is a GT3 a bad idea for a 60 mile daily commute? it's a breeze in my 996C4 with PSS9's set to almost-all-the-way stiff. And I need to get through snow occasionally. Keep in mind my other car is a noble.... and as it stands, the 996C4 is a great daily driver for me but I would like something a bit more powerful and fun.
you clearly haven't figured out how to drive a lotus.
there a many multiple GT3 owners and RS owner who also own multiple loti. they are that good. not to mention multiple ferrari owners as well.
the windshield frame is not structural, you aren't supposed to touch it getting in and out of the car.
how far can you tolearate driving your lotus? that that number and x2, that's about how far you can do in GT3.
i have both, and this description is pretty accurate. i can do about 600 miles in lotus, stopping only to fuel up.
I've driven the elise cross country stopping one day in indianapolis. It was a FANTASTIC car, but having a Noble kinda defeats the purpose of having an elise... although dealing with two turbos on the track is a bit unsettling.
I'm definitely going to take a test drive in both and see how I feel... I guess the main worry is snow. it will be my snow driver. that and engine maint. any different in maint from a 996C4?
I have no desire to learn how to drive it.......it is a POS. If I wanted a car for how it performs and I didnt care about quality I would get a 'vette.
The car is an embarassment for Lotus. I lost a ton of respect for Lotus.
Anything can perform if it is light enough.
Are you going to be using it as a daily driver as well as a few track days? If that is the case I would go with the 997S with sport chrono. That gives you the comfort and more functionality on daily drives, but gives you the ability with the "sport" button to tighten things up on the track. If it is not a daily driver and only fun/track car I would think the GT3 wold be the easy decision.
blk on blk mentioned the right car for you; Watch this vid:
Top Gear test: 997S
and you'll see that the 997S2 with sport chrono is as serious as a 996 GT3 - but a little newer.
if it will be daily driver then 4 wd in the northeast is a must, IMO, so perhaps a C4S may be more of the car you are looking for. I thought GT3 because the engine is bulletproof. These M96 engines bug me...

The GT3 is great for track, especially with some modifications. It will serve you well for track and street, BUT it is overkill if you are mainly street; and the 997S is a great street, occasional track car. Forget 4 wheel drive, (someone ready to flame?). I've used 2 wheel for years in the snow with snow tires. Lots of fun, and more fun at the track.
well i've got my Noble for track work so the 911 really won't see much track time. i've been using a C4 and it's fantastic in the snow but i'm thinking it's overkill vs C2S/GT3 with snow tires....
