I used a cover for a few months and they are a PITA unless the car is very clean and tucked away for a long winter's nap

I just want to avoid having to clean off ice/snow from the car in the morning and thought this would help but Ivangene helped me realize that a cover could potentially be more problematic than help.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I am looking at either Cover King of the OEM Porsche one (which is cheaper than the Cover King Storm Proof cover...

POST 2Original post

13 coats of good wax - covers put on dirty cars scratch paint, if its outside I assume you are driving it, so protect it, let it get dirty and wash when you can. I used a cover for a few months and they are a PITA unless the car is very clean and tucked away for a long winter's nap

I am thinking you're right. I drive home from work, I find out from the weather forecast we're going to get a crap load of snow, I put the cover on a slightly dirty car, which dirties the inside of the cover, and then it snows, and then melts, and then freezes, and then I remove the cover...ugh. I am SOOO glad I checked in with you guys - I was just about to spend $295 on a cover !!!

I don't think you read my posts here. It is a daily driver for me. I just want to avoid having to clean off ice/snow from the car in the morning and thought this would help but Ivangene helped me realize that a cover could potentially be more problematic than help.

POST 9Original post

Depending on if your neighbors can tolerate the scenery and/or your city codes are ok, maybe get about $50 in 2x4 studs and some tarp and build a makeshift garage?

POST 10Original post

What he said... Build that shed, use duct tape, multiple color tarps and as always the neighbors will appreciate the straight pipes you put on for winter.

POST 12Original post

No cover for a "daily driver". Instead, maybe a remote starter to get the heater /defroster going to quicken the "set up" time when leaving?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 7916634

anyone know of a remote starter that works with a MK2 996?

POST 14Original post

yea, thats what I want, my beautiful p-car under a duck tape, tarp and 2x4 shanty shack that rips apart in the wind or becomes a sail and slams the side of the car as it heads on down the street h&ll Yea Dawg !

POST 17Original post

You own a Porsche. You can afford to have a night watchman clean it after every rain drop or snow flake. Keep it dry bitches, keep it dry!!

POST 18Original post

http://www.carcapsule.com/ Wish they had an outdoor model. Hey, it works for those gigantic snowglobe lawn decorations, right?

POST 19Original post

I have a NOAH based car cover. Works fine. You can order custom made on many web sites. FM
