I just installed my Schnell CAI and added a K&N filter for the box.

I had to get mine replaced because of the K&N filter.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys! I just bought my 1st Porsche last week. Its a 2001 C2 Cab. with Tiptronic. It only has 29K miles. It is loaded out with the full leather pkg and Porsche crest on the head rests of the seats and the dashboard is leather. It also has the front and back upgraded wood grain option. The guy just bought 19x8.5 and 19x10 Porsche 3 piece Challenge wheels for it and he also included 3 piece 18 inch upgraded wheels with new tires. I will post pics of that soon. I just ordered the Schnell CAI with drop in K&N Filter and Aluminum Porsche racing pedals. I am looking into a different exhaust but havent decided yet. The car is Lapis Blue with dark tan leather. Here are a few pics. I am looking forward to being a part of this site.
Wayne, I didn't say "drive it," I said "use it" - very different! I "used" mine today, for example. Actually drove it around 10 miles! Are you picking up where Tim left off?
Cool! Glad to hear that you took the lady for a spin. I hope that you avoided the thunderstorms - mine stayed in the garage, as I was afraid of getting it wet.
As for the Tim comment.... no, just giving you a hard time as usual.
CONGRATS! I'm loving the rims, welcome aboard! You're going to have a blast in that. You mentioned going for a K&N filter, I'd read some posts on this thread about the problems it causes for the Air Mass Flow sensor. I had to get mine replaced because of the K&N filter.
Show more pics!!
I read about the K&N CAI causing problems also so I went with the Schnell CAI. They sell K&N replacement filters that are like the stock ones that go in the stock airbox you just get a little better flow. The K&N kit you are thinking about had the open cone filter that threw CEL codes and hurt MAF's on 99-2001. I want to see more pics of your 01. What kind of wheels are those and did you lower it?
Thanks for the complements everyone. I will post more pics soon. I sold my 350Z Touring to help buy this car and I dont regret it at all! I love it!
Congrats and Welcome to Rennlist. Very nice looking car! I love the Lapis Blue, but I may be slightly biased!
Thanks for sharing the pics!
As for the mods:
1. Harvest those pumpkins and install some clear side markers.
2. Replace the black "Carrera" emblem with a Silver one. I did that to mine and I like it much better.
You can get both of these items from Eric at BumperPlugs.com. BTW - Eric is a Rennlist site sponsor.
Thanks! See if you can find some stock 3.6L mufflers from one of the guys here (they may give them to you for free) and then spend $60 - $80 and have a muffler shop do the "PSE MK II" mod to the mufflers.
Check out this thread about PSE mod.

Well, this is another recent thread on exhausts:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/355816-exhaust-picks-what-do-you-like.html
The PSE and Febspeed are well favored. You will find links to videos in the threads that have the sound of SpiderV6's PSE and my B&Bs.
If you do a search you'll find other threads with other sound files in them. Exhaust choise is all about the personal preference you have for how you would like your car to sound.
Good luck in selecting!
Hello from a fellow 01 C2 Cabby!
Like the rims and...as for exhaust..there are sooo many choices. Just hang tight...go to some meets to hear different ones and look and read around here often. You will learn and know whats good for you in no time. Be patient!
welcome!
Some quick interior shots with the camera phone. Full Wood trim front and back and full leather with leather dash. Whats cool is the gauges match the leather.
It's too bad that B&M dosen't make a short shift kit for the Tip. If they did, I'd tell you to get that one next.
Sorry, I couldn't help myself! Obviously, I'm just kidding!
Having Lapis Blue I will tell you it is a beautiful but soft paint! Expect everything that rubs up against your car to leave very fine scratches in the clear coat. I recommend buying a Porter Cable buffer, make life much nicer!
What size, width and offsets are the Sport Designs? What tires are on them? What are the tire sizes? Those would look nice on my Lapis Blue!
Oh damn, I just remembered, I'm selling my car!
18x8 with 225's on the front and 18x10's with 265's on the back. I dont know the offset.
Here are some for sale on Ebay.

Tim, Keep the car!!!
I just bought some new 3.6 mufflers off of a guy on this site for $240 shipped. He bought the car new and had a new exhaust put on his car before he took delivery. They are off of a C4S. I am going to do the Mark II conversion you told me about.
PS What kind of tips do you have on your car?
Thanks!
Alpha - man, the body isn't even cold yet and the scavengers are already at work! Would you like me to post a few more pics so you can throw a few more items into your shopping cart?
Ok guys. I just installed my Schnell CAI and added a K&N filter for the box. Here is what you do if you have a TIP car. Go to Pep Boys and buy a Spectre Breather Filter Part # 3992 Fits 8-12mm tubes ($10.00). Install it into the TIP hose and use the clamp provided. Buy some Zip ties to tie down the loose hose and it works great! I could tell a difference in throttle response and the sound was deeper. My MK II mufflers will be put on Monday.
Here are pics of the install:
