I was concerned about fitment and quality, as with any aftermarket parts- but my friend installed the same setup on a coupe ~8 months ago (plus replica taco, but I have a cab so I didn't get a wing) and he said it was a very straight forward install.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just picked up an MKI GT3 replica front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper winglets-- all in FRP. I was looking for a deal on an OEM setup, and a friend that works in highline body shop put me in touch with a guy who has a lot of aftermarket porsche stuff. I got his last gt3 bumper, along with some side skirts and rear winglets. I was concerned about fitment and quality, as with any aftermarket parts- but my friend installed the same setup on a coupe ~8 months ago (plus replica taco, but I have a cab so I didn't get a wing) and he said it was a very straight forward install. All the same mounting points as oem and it fit properly without any extra work. He also said it really didn't require any extra prep work over the oem kit (he has done a few of those, too). The car looked great!! I wish I would have had my digital camera. I never would have known it was aftermarket, other than for the lack of license plate holes (which is a good thing!). So, with that in mind and considering the price, I was sold. My question is, how durable is this stuff? I understand that FRP is fiberglass reinforced plastic. How much more durable is that compared to traditional fiberglass? Is this stuff going to smash apart on the first driveway I scrape on?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Surely someone here must be able to enlighten me?

POST 3Original post

Can't really help you, but I too would love to hear real world experiences from those who have used FRP bumpers and other bits. There are some good deals out there in FRP.

POST 4Original post

FRP has a lot of flex in it which is a major benfit over fiberglass. The major benefit is that you wont shatter the bumper when you scrape it badly you will merely scrape it. It fits well and looks great!
