Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Set off lidar jammers' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set off lidar jammers' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion · Original poster
There must be a separate device handling the Laser detection/alarms and it needs to use two lights to indicate direction because it doesn't interface with the V1's arrow system.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cross posted from General Porsche Discussions:
My recently purchased 2000 C2 Cab came with a custom installation V1. The unit is mounted in the center console and the display is built into the rearview mirror. I downloaded the user manual but still can't figure out a couple of the lights/alarms. There are two lights at the top of the display that alarm independently on occasion, even when the unit is switched off. I don't think they're radar-related, because I've never seen any suspects when they were sounding. I sent this photo to Valentine but they didn't know what they were. Here is their response:
I dont know what the significance is of these two lights. Perhaps there is also a radar/laser jammer system on board as well. Ive never seen this setup before.
The previous owner didn't know either. Does anyone have a similar setup?
IIRC that was a factory add on (option) right?
the dealer might have some old "manual" info if you can get them to look for it... take some candy in, they will sometimes work harder if fed
How many wires/cables coming out the back? Any chance of tracing them?
V1 should only need a flat cable that looks like a phone cord.
Do you have any black heads up front attached to the bumper?
By the way from what I have read K-40=JUNK.
The mirror is different than the one shown at that link, but the information about the rest of the hardware seems to fit. My V1 control **** is in the center console between the heated seat buttons. There are no visible wires coming from the mirror. I've been unable to locate the device itself. The Original owner said it was a $5k option, but I don't know if it was dealer installed or done by a third party.
I just took a look at the car and there is a black box with two red plastic inserts inside the front grille, above the license plate. The rear license plate holder also has the same two red boxes (one square and one rectangular). These are probably remote laser detectors (jammers?)
The two lights circled in my photo will sometimes activate when the V1 is turned off. They seem to operate independently of each other as well. When one of those lights alarms (light and sound), it usually lasts for fifteen to thirty seconds and is not in sync with the V1 alarms. So I can have a V1 alarm when I'm near a radar post, but those two lights aren't triggered. On the other hand, when those lights are triggered I don't usually seen anything in the V1 display. I wonder if there is another switch somewhere for the laser detector.
Just thought: two lights for lasers...front and rear. Duh!
By George, I think I've got it!
The V1 has 4 vertical lights to indicate the type of threat (Laser, Ka, K, X)
The mirror has 3 vertical lights that correspond to only Ka, K, and X.
That's because the V1 is hidden in the vehicle and can't detect Laser.
The Laser detectors fore and aft control the two lights across the top. There must be a separate device handling the Laser detection/alarms and it needs to use two lights to indicate direction because it doesn't interface with the V1's arrow system.
Now if I can only find where the switch is for the Laser detector.
Sound plausible?
Sounds plausible. Some TV remotes will set off Lidar jammers. You might try that. Just have someone keep pressing buttons on the remote as it is aimed and the head. This might trigger one of the lights in the mirror. Then do the same for the rear.
