There is no question the knowledge and opinions of those on Rennlist are very useful and should be considered but use your own instincts and intelligence to make the final decision (you are the only person that has to live with the decision).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I saw 2 carrera
2001 - 70,000 miles dark blue ext/ brown or beige color int, stick shift (Car fax reports a small accident on it). But has buy back guranteee. asking price $38,700
2001 - 47000 mil seal grey ext/black int, stick shift, all leather package. Asking price $46,500
Both of them come with a 3 year warrenty on it. Bith of them drive good.
Can someone tell me if these are priced properly?
Thanks.
Gonna need a ton more details... Coupes or cabs? C2? C4? Options???
Best bet is to compare these to others listed on eBay or Auto Trader. That'll give you an idea of the marketplace.
They are C2 coupes.
The 70,000mil doesnt have a full leather package. It has a custom after market streo system.

The 47000mil has the same options except except everythig is original. it has a full leather option.
I see some more and some less than those quoted prices. The only thing that stops me from the 70kmil car is it has a accident report on the carfax.
I would appreciate any help here.
Thanks.
Again, more information would be helpful. What kind of warranty is offered? If it's Porsche CPO, that's good, if it's something else, then it wouldn't mean as much (to me, anyway). Also I suggest that you check Kelly Blue Book (
www.kbb.com
) for pricing and to continue looking around at other comparable cars. And are these cars pristine, or simply average? Some people pamper and baby their cars, others drive the snot out of them and wash them annually whether they need it or not.
Different people have different comfort levels with high mileage cars, so the price on the first one may be great to some people and out of the question for others.
Michael
It is not CPO. They are offering a custom certification.
How much can I ask for the first one? The one with an accident report on it?
The second one was more prestine condition. The first one had the front bumper brushed a lot.
They both seem priced too high, especially the seal grey. Before I picked up C4S last spring, I was looking closely at an '02 w/48k mi for $46k. It had the full leather pkg and factory fixed rear wing. This was over 6 months ago in Socal where P-cars are typically priced higher.
the price is high.
carfax is a joke.
my friend had a bumper cover replaced. kids in his home put a small scratch on it. and it goes on carfax and minor rear end damage.
well my other car almost totaled twice, nothing show up in carfax.
price wise, seems to be high.
why didn't they do CPO? smells bad.
agreed - carfax is a marketing joke... I used to think it was just good to prove title (i.e. non-altered salvage, etc...), but look what happened to Arr0gants car.
Like it or not, Carfax IS the standard. Carfax is the only company that directly devalues the car. If the car had an accident, or was flooded and it DIDN"T go on Carfax, and it is well hidden the car will keep it's hi price. As soon as something is reported on Carfax, it can and WILL conribute to the decline of market price. Whether Carfax is a joke or not, its a good barometer of a cars history. Of course there are exceptions, hence the SUB. In other words, if I wreck my car, pay out of pocket and get really good work, the car WILL sell for much more than if it gets on Carfax. Once it does, value diminishes.
for the sage grey
Private Party Value (KBB)
Condition Value
Excellent $38,705
Good $36,805
Fair $34,200
42K is the MAX i will pay if the car is 100%, CPO, from a good reputable p-car dealership.
can u ask why they can't do CPO? cause they are no-p-car dealer?
Fredflinstone,
Use the opinions of people on here (including my own) with regard to pricing as advice and guidance, not gospel. Realize the geographical area plays a part in the pricing and is usually not discussed here. Additionally options are very important in pricing (there are many 99-01 cars with little or no options and thus the lower prices, regardless of mileage or geographical area). As Porsches age, the treatment, care and maintenance provided by the various owners really starts to have an impact on car and the prices will reflect this (even cars with similar options and mileage may vary wildly). The cosmetic condition of a car affects the price but is highly subjective. Other factors not openly discussed on the forums is the gotta have factor or gotta sell factor, both of which can really effect the price. I know when I have looked for cars, I have always had certain criteria with regards to color combo and options, this dramatically limits the cars available.
The right price for a car is what you value it, not what anyone on here thinks is a good deal. Evaluate the car for what you want. Is it the right color? Does it have the options you want? Is it the cosmetic condition you want? Is it in the mechanical condition you want, etc. Then determine how much you are willing to pay for the car get the best deal you can negotiate.
The first Porsche I purchased was done without the use of these boards and arguably was the best deal I got. During my search for my second p-car I listened too much to what was being said on Rennlist about pricing and lost the perfect car for me (color/option/combo) because I negotiated too long because I determined it was over priced based on the opinion of those on Rennlist and never found the color/option combo again. There is no question the knowledge and opinions of those on Rennlist are very useful and should be considered but use your own instincts and intelligence to make the final decision (you are the only person that has to live with the decision). The only real gospel in buying a used Porsche is to get a thorough PPI, all the rest is just opinions.
