Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After delaying my cross country trip due to some work projects, I decided to take the P to run some errands.
At the post office I pulled to the end of the half empty lot and took two spaces thinking no one would park near me since there where at least 20 other open spots closer to the entrance. WRONG!
As I walk out to my beloved Porsche, I notice a woman in an old beat up escort has pulled within 12 inches of my car. No kidding! Her drivers side door is 12 inches from my passenger door.
I look at my car and it hasnt been door dinged, so I get in and prepare to go about my business. Never looked at the lady or said anything. As I am pulling out, the lady calls me an a$@hole and gives me a dirty look.
Yet one more reason I am an a#@hole. The list continues to grow.

LOL But how can you be certain that it wasn't for one of the other reasons on your list? On a serious note it's a bad idea to park so far away from parked cars. Your car may become a target when it's isolated from the other cars on the lot. Actually if you just make certain that you park near sedans, your car shouldn't get dinged. It's the coupes with their doors that swing open so wide that should be avoided.
Women can be bitches. She saw your car taken two spaces and did it on purpose.
Some women just hate guys with nice cars.
I was driving down the street and passed this chick riding a bike. She wasn't that great, had fat legs and I would never even look at her twice.
I went around the block and headed back down another street. She must have turned down another street and was a head of me going in the same direction.
While passing her the second time she gives me the finger. I was like thinking wtf.
anyways didn't ruin my day for long, I saw a 964 Red Turbo just after the chick incident and got to play with it. Then we both waved and went our separate ways.
IMHO, taking up 2 parking spots (double parking) is a VERY bad idea. In a relatively empty parking lot maybe not so bad, but a very bad thing to do in a lot even close to filled. People think its rude, and someone may be prone to key the car. Just my opinion.

The last time that happened to me, I just ran over the bit*%. It took me a week to get the blue hair out of my radiator fins and then I had to pay to get the dings out of my hood from her damn walker!
they called me an ******* twice now in a parking garage......when I was driving out of it.....reason could be my super sound sport exhaust and the car alarms going off
....I had a blast!
All those idiots with those super sensitive car alarms....calibrate those useless things a little better. I love being an *******! As for taking up 2 parking spots....don't...give you a bad name...unless you like being an ******* like me!
Well, if you're proud to be an a$$hhole, then you won't mind my saying that taking up two spaces is kind of an a$$hole move. I prefer to look for spots at the end of a row that allow me to park as far as possible from the spot next to me. Parking is at such a premium in LA that I think taking two spots is a magnet for the person who wants to key a car.
I agree, double-parking is abnoxious, and puts your car at risk of being vandalized.
If I see a car double-parked, I would assume the driver is an ******* as well.
Whatever car you may drive, does not entitle you to 2 parking spots, unless it's valet parking and you are paying a good tip for it!
Here is my solution on the problem.

After reading the thread that Chris (above) linked to, I gotta say, you guys are even more **** and paranoid than I am!
And I didn't think that was possible!
But back to the topic at hand, yes, I agree with everyone here that says that taking two spots is an ******* move and will undoubtably motivate some bozo useless waste-of-oxygen moron asswipe to key your car. Don't do it.
Michael
Parking your car far away from the others is OK. Lots of people do it. Sometimes you see a cluster of sports cars and luxury cars at the far end of the lot. It makes me smile every time. Taking two spaces is not cool even if it's in an empty lot. You're declaring to the world that you're better than everyone else.
I agree with Dan - I make a point of parking "halfway to Kansas" as my wife describes it. It still doesn't guarantee the car's safety, because it's likely some clown will park virtually on top of you in the hope the proximity to the Porsche will somehow magically transform his/her clapped-out Ford Taurus into a Ford GT.
I will never, EVER take two spaces again, no matter how empty the lot is.
I have seen the error of my ways.
Im not being an a$$hole. I really mean it. Didnt realize people looked at it that way. I thought I was just protecting my property.
Now, to work on the rest of the list.........
Taking two spaces can get your car keyed but in your situation vegas, with the lot empty, that lady was being the *******. Some people live off hate, and she was one of them.
OK, before this gets out of hand, I wasn't calling anyone an a$$hole. I said that taking two spots is "an a$$hole move." I don't consider myself an a$$hole overall, but I definitely have a$$hole moments. This was not intende to be one of them. I am SURE that to a non-Porsche owner, someone taking two spots with a Porsche is going to be called an a$$hole on a regular basis.
...read my story in the other thread. I have little respect for most drivers, considering that almost every car I've owned has had the doors dinged to hell and back.
The only safe place to park is next to another p-car.
When it comes to cars I'm a total a-hole... glad to admit it and shout it from the roof. I got that way because of the way that others treated my cars.
I'm an a$$hole....and I am sure everyone agreed with me last night on the lower deck of the Bay Bridge. My exhaust....sounds sooooooooooo sweet....at least I thought so!
But, never take two spots....just asking for trouble.
Taking two spots is asking for a key right down the side of it. I haven't owned a P-car for very long, but here are my impressions:
1. A P-car attracts other cars to park next to it. Don't know why.
2. People love to tailgate a P-car. Dont' know why. It didn't happen with my M3.
Case in point. I'm at a Target store with the GT3. Hundreds of parking spaces and I park about 15-20 spots away from others but not all the way on the other side of the lot. 15 minutes later I've got two cars on the side of mine with the same 15 spaces between the others. WTF, the other 15 weren't good. Now I'm squeezing to get into my car after checking for dings. A trust me, if I find a ding, a key is coming out (Call me an Ahole).
Now I find an end spot or a spot with a Lexus or MB or BMW that I can park next to and HOPE that they like their car as much as I like mine.
The ONLY circumstance that deserves a key is when someone damages your car and you catch them. Keying a car for double parking makes you the biggest kind of disrespectful ***.
There is nothing wrong with taking up two spaces at the back of an otherwise unoccupied area of a parking lot, it's just assinine to say otherwise. To do so in a busy parking lot is a different matter, then the smart thing to do is to just find another place to park.
There's no solution. When I park my Excursion straight (and it fills a full-size spot and hangs over the painted lines on both sides) nobody seems to notice. But if I first _wash_ the Excursion, this seems to indicate I care about the thing and then I get keyed and people glare at me. Bizarre.
I have two black SUVs and neither has a scratch, but I washed one and parked it outside the local grocery store just a few months after buying it. And got keyed down both passenger doors. I didn't notice the key until I got home, but I did notice the barstarrd kids hanging around. Then history repeats, I bought the new Excursion, not a smudge on it. Parked well away from Stanford mall and come back (with a baby in a stroller) to find someone had insisted upong parking so close to the driver side that I couldn't get in. My lawyers advise that I cannot comment further.
As for the Porsches, I had some vandalism to the Boxster (it was a daily driver and often left in danger) but nothing to the other three, all of which have lived privileged existences with no risk of this kind of BS.
This is one of the reasons why I hesitate to drive something like an F- or an L- car.
Yeah there is *******.
said only because you issued a preemptive strike by saying that anyone who disagrees with you is assinine. Well, I disagree
It may be empty when you arrive, but it could fill up when you are inside. I hate seeing someone take up two spots. What it says to me is that your car owns you rather than you owning the car. It matters too much to you that you might get a precious little door ding. It also says that you are better than everyone else because if everyone else took up two spots then nobody would have a place to park. I take it you don't live in an urban area.
Take your car to the track. Then you will appreciate what it was really meant for, and you aren't going to worry so much about a little ding.
Touche. I'll give you that.
I live in a highly populated suburban area... have always lived in such areas. When these areas have big box stores with parking lots that are the size of several football fields and you're parking at the back, then I see nothing unreasonable about taking up two spaces, as the lot will never, ever, be full. As I said, if the lot is crowded, or may become full, then park somewhere else. Never deprive another of a space, but be smart. I will not take my p-car to a place where it might get dinged up.
As for the car owning me, sure I agree it does. I'm the worst kind of **** retentive when it comes to my cars. I protect them and always have. I detail my p-car religiously every 2 weeks. My other cars used to be professionally detailed twice a year, now I do it myself, as I do a better job.
I have no respect for people who have no respect for the property of others.
Unfortunately, intelligence has little to do with whether people ding up your car. I used to work at IBM's Almaden Research Center in San Jose - we are talking about a place for the best of the best. My car at the time took the worst beating of any of the cars that I've owned. Disrespect comes in all walks fo life.
Don't get me wrong. I don't like door dings.
I still think that the only reason those parking lots are not full is that not everyone is taking up two spots.
I also think that you exponentially increase the chances that your car will get damaged if you take two spots. Even if it is something as simple as a giant loogie on your windshield or side window.
If you want to reduce the chances that you get a ding, just be smart but subtle. Don't take up two spots. Don't park too far away from others, because that is conspicuous. Try to find a spot on the end, and then try to park on the far side of that spot with the driver's door to the "empty" side.
Anything else is just asking for trouble.
In the end, it is just a car. Driving the car the way it is meant to be driven will increase the chances for stone chips and pitted windshields. Using the car on a daily basis will increase the chances that you will get a door ding or will be in a wreck. What is the alternative? Not driving the car? What is the point of that? 996s are not collectible, which is why I like them.
I drive my car every single day . . .rain, snow or shine. I try to be careful, but I do not worry or make myself conspicuous. Gaassppp I use valets. I wring every bit of enjoyment that I possibly can out of my car. When I get to the point that I worry too much to use it, I will sell it and get a car that I will not worry about.
I got to the point when I worried about using my 996 on the track. I bought a 944 and enjoy it 100 times more on the track than I ever enjoyed the 996. Same principle
First off, if I park off by myself and 15 minutes later I have two cars on the side of me and one side of the car has a ding that wasn't there before, you have what is called paint transfer, genius!!! Let me share with you one more piece of evidence... if the ding lines up where their door would open up and there is also paint transfer, I know who did it. Did you follow me.
Finally, I don't have a problem with people taking 2 spaces in an otherwise empty lot, but there are a lot of people who do. Couple that with the fact that it is an expensive car and people have this class envy thing going and it gets them even more pissed off. You do what you want, but I for one will try to stay as low key as possible and mind my own business when in a lot.
At the golf club the other day with my CLK, parked somewhat off from others with lots of empty spaces either side. Came back and there was a 996 cab parked in the spot right beside me. Had a good smile 'cause I knew exactly why he parked there.
I had 2 harry christina's behind me today in a beater. I was checking their face paint and chuckling with a smile on my face and I guess he saw it in my rear view mirror. He stared making a sarcastic face to his friend, who started giggling and both were looking straight ahead saying some degrading things about the p car I suppose, I guess at my ostentatious display of wealth. I am an ******* but they looked like ******** too
