This is not a probability of success.

PS: I also know that some American Porsche dealers changed the oil brand and the tyres after delivery to their facility and before delivery to the customer if these items were not specified in the customers build request.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

does anyone know what tire brand came on 1999 996's when delivered new?

POST 3Original post

Porsche used and uses several brands and models.

POST 4Original post

I doubt that the 99's came with 18's standard. In 03, it was an option since 17's are standard. As for the tires, you can go to the Q&A section of PCA's website and search for approved tires. I believe that it shows OEM tires. Or simply go to tirerack.com and look for tires for your car and click on OEM tires. Steve

POST 5Original post

18's were an option on the 99's. Mine was a March 98 build and came with them.

POST 6Original post

My 1999 C4 with the optional 18 inch wheels was originally delivered with Bridgestone S02As. Often people post that they cannot find what certain option numbers are between around 226 and 239. This range of option numbers are Porsche option number over which the customer has no input. Primarily they are to do with their tyre choices for the car. For instance option 231 meant that Porsche selected Pirelli and option 236 is Bridgestone. Michelin and Continental were also offered. Which tyres that were selected often reflected the market the car was being sold into as well as stock levels and specific tyres for optional wheel sizes where only one manufacturer at the time made the correct size. One day I will hopefully get them all. Ciao, Adrian. PS: I also know that some American Porsche dealers changed the oil brand and the tyres after delivery to their facility and before delivery to the customer if these items were not specified in the customers build request.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys for your input. My 996 has 18" Pirellis with sport classic wheels. I am the second owner and didnt know if those were the original tires.

POST 8Original post

The answer is: Pirelli P-Zero Asimmetrico Continental ContiSport Contacts Michelin Pilot SX Bridgestone S-02 Pole Position I pulled out some old magazine articles and this is what was listed.

POST 9Original post

If you are concerned that they are the exact tires that were on the car when it was delivered and so therefore they are old tires, you can find the DOT date of manufacture on the tire. On my tires there is a series of 4 numbers which indicate the week of manufacture and the year of manufacture of that tire. It can be 3 or 4 numbers at the end of the serial number. 048 might mean 4th week of 1998 manufactured. 0405 might mean 4th week of 2005. You can go to tire rack and read more: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...currentpage=33 Regards, Marc 95M3 04 40th 06M3 ZCP
