Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an odd / annoying problem with my 996 2001 model. First the instrument cluster and dashboard lights had a delay lighting up after I turned on the lights. It was going on like 3-4months. Now they are totally "dead"! They come on only occasionally (maybe once a week) What could be the problem? Any ideas? Fuses are OK and the illumination brightness **** does nothing at all...

POST 2Original post

Did you check the fuse? I was just in there yesterday and noticed there's a fuse for this whilst reading the circuit diagram. At least, I think there is... Justin

POST 3Original post

if all the lighs are out at the same time id would go with headlight siwtch

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The head- and taillights work like clockwork. Only the auto level function does not function as well as do not the dashboard and instrument cluster lights.

POST 5Original post

Try flicking the headlight switch on and off a bunch of times to see if it comes back. Thats by far the most common cause of no backlighting in the cluster.
