Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I will spray some silicone around in there, and I have used the Renntech forums before, and yes, that's a good site too.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My new to me '02 cab has a tinny (not tiny) rattle in the driver's door. I popped off the door panel this weekend, but I couldn't find anything loose. After doing this, I drove it some more and I think the rattle diminishes somewhat if I lock the doors. Therefore, I think it's somehow connected to the locking mechanism. I cannot duplicate the noise by shaking or hitting the door, so I think it's from the up and down motion when the car is moving.
Anyone had a similiar problem, with a fix?
Thanks,
Michael
CHECK THE SCREWS FOR THE SPEAKER BOX THEY COME LOOSE AND MAKE SOME RATTLES
ALSO CHECK THE DOOR LATCH AND THE STRIKER THOSE HAVE BEEN CULPRITS OF RATTLES A FEW TIMES ...
Take a look at the outside mirror, and give it a wack to see if the noise comes from there.
If it makes the noise, then pop off the mirror (it is just held in with some plastic fingers). On the back of the mirror is a plastic tang that fits into a metal clip. This tang will vibrate in the clip and make noise. simply spray it with silicone spray, and the noise is gone.
Darn, not a member.
If only I knew someone that was. Or if someone who was a member, and say, hmmmm, also a member of this board perhaps took pity on me and copied the basics of the TSB.
Michael (hopeful)
its $25 donation and worth it just for the TSB's
Lots of really interesting DIY things you can do.. and stuff you can fix you didnt even know was broken !
Oh, just spray Silicone Lube into the door latch and around the striker :-)
On mine it was the door stop rod, the rod that stops the door from opening too far. When the door closed the rod tapped on the door structure. It only would hit with the door closed.
Concern: Clicking / grating noises coming from door lock area.
Information: Clicking / grating noises coming from the door lock area are caused by the catch bar rubbing in the
door lock.
Spray the affected door lock with silicone lubricant spray. Spray in the inner area of the lock, in which
the catch bar engages.
NOTE: It is not necessary to replace the door lock.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and comments! I will spray some silicone around in there, and I have used the Renntech forums before, and yes, that's a good site too.

I had a "rattle of death" coming from the door as well.
It turned out that one of the screws from the window regulator had worked itself loose. It was so loose I could turn it by hand.
The issue is, the window regulator is not visible with door panel off because there is some thin foam stuff covering it. I made a small cut (maybe 4" long) in it and saw the loose screw immediately.
I had taken the panel off a few times looking for trouble when I finally realized there was stuff behind the foam.
My rattle turned out to be that the window regulator had broken away from its weld. You could hit the passenger door lightly with your fist and the rattle would occur.
