Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have tried both keys and Im having difficulty fitting into the ignition. If I play with it a bit, it fits. Once the key gets in the first notch, it slides in fine. Any thoughts? Do I need a new ignition switch?

POST 2Original post

Yep!! That's exactly what happened to my switch before I needed to replace it.

POST 3Original post

Do a search on "ignition" or on "Audi" and you will find some threads that covers the Audi part (same as the Porsche part) to replace your switch. Porsche no longer offers just the switch, now you have to buy the entire mechanism from Porsche, which I believe is 3 to 4 times the cost of the Audi switch.

POST 4Original post

I had a similar problem, my key was key was kida ruff to get it in, eventually it didn't turn off my ignition. my battery then died out because the dashboard light stayed on. Thanks to this site I found out how easy it is to replace part - 4A0-905-849 B - which I did buy from audi for 50.00. It took me about 15 min to replace. good luck
