Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The batteries for my boxster have bit the dust... Do I have to have the dealer replace batteries? If so how much? If not, what kind of battery is it, how do I change it without screwing it up and will it mess up the codes for alarm, doors, decklid/trunk?

POST 2Original post

just pop the key open with a small flat blade screwdriver. you should see a little notch to get the blade in. get replacements anywhere that sells batteries. no codes to reset etc.

POST 3Original post

battery are avail at grocery stores for 2.99 for two. very popular

POST 4Original post

I just got new ones for both keys at RadioShack.... only a few bucks. Plug and play.... range is much better now.

POST 5Original post

I purchased a set of two off EBAY a while back.

POST 6Original post

I've seen those Ebay ads for key batteries .... and wondered who would make such a purchase. I imagine the shipping alone is more than the cost of the batteries at the local drugstore. CR2032 Lithium battery: $2.29 for a card of 2 at Walgreens the other day.

POST 7Original post

Just ask P.T. Barnum...... I think it was about $12.00 total, can't remember for sure. I had only had the car for a few weeks, I didn't know where to go & was lazy.
