Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think mines jealous. She thinks I spent more time with the car than her. So to prove her wrong I took her on a mini vacation. We drove the P-car on Skyline Dr. in the Shenandoah National Park and did an overnight at the Bavarian Inn in West Virginia on the Potomac River. She still thinks we took the trip so that I could drive the p-car

POST 2Original post

At the moment mine hates my P-car. It has been in and out of the shop for much of the last month, and now they are replacing the engine. She bought it new for me this past Christmas, and it only has 5k miles on it. She likes her 4.4 X5 much better and keeps reminding me I should have gotten the M5. They way this whole deal has gone for me I think she may be right. I am pretty pleased with the way the dealer and my service advisor have handled things. PCNA could not have handled it more badly.

POST 3Original post

Mine understands quite well my passion with cars, especially a Porsche 911. We've been together for 15 years (married for 7), and she's seen my poster of a 911 since day one, so she respects my relationship with my "mistress." She does get a little miffed, though, whenever I spend money on the 911.

POST 4Original post

Just tell her "I'm in the car more then you, when that changes I'll love you more."

POST 6Original post

Mine loves our 996. In fact, technically, she bought it. I had taken her along to look at what turned out to be a ratty C4. She was so horrified, she "made me" go straight to the closest Porsche dealer to see what they had in CPO cars. They had a Lapis Blue (my first colo choice) 996 with a 6-speed and almost no miles on the clock. She cut the deal while I sat there trying not to breathe, lest I wake up from what seemed to be a pretty good dream, even if it didn't feature Mia Kirshner (the very hot "bad girl" on tv's 24) in a soaking wet t-shirt. She likes the fact that I will quickly agree to drive her anywhere, even if I insist on parking waay out there. She is happy that I am focused on the car and not on my neighbor's 17-year old daughter.

POST 7Original post

My wife says better a porsche in the driveway than a mistress in the bedroom We keep notionally separate bank accounts so she can't even comment about mods.... she does think my license plate is a bit gay though....

POST 8Original post

OMG....now THAT is fricken hilarious!!! Now, since I spend so much time with my car.... NO! I'm not! My car just changed from a she to a he....just to be sure!

POST 9Original post

You know we have to ask you what your gay tag says.

POST 10Original post

My wife likes it but feels it's a lot of money spent on a car that is not used every day. I got my wife a new diamond ring. Don't have to worry about any "mods complaints" this month.

POST 11Original post

She said, "what do you mean, *your* porsche"?

POST 12Original post

My wife hates mine and refuses to ever get in it.

POST 14Original post

Mine loves the 996 and now wants the 964 gone because I never drive it. I tell her if I sell it I am just going to buy a more expensive replacement that I will not drive much either....end of conversation.

POST 15Original post

its not what it says that is gay, my wife thinks all vanity plates are gay basically its the plate in th UK that the sultain of brunei bought for $400k years ago where it remained the most expensive plate for 15 years. http://www.bm3w.co.uk/news/nindex.ph..._from=&ucat=3& its my nickname and i thought that for $70 a year I could not pass it up, no matter how gay my wife thought it would be

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just had all new appliances put in the kitcken and new landscaping. That will keep her quiet for a couple months

POST 17Original post

I think she understands the need. And plus - I am always in a better mood after I get out of the car than before I got in. So she sees the end benefit as actually hers, not mine.

POST 18Original post

it depends. she like it when we all (with 2 daughters in the back seat) go out a fun summer evening drive. she hates me detail the car 11PM at night.

POST 19Original post

Unfortunatley for me that won't work. I have only a 4 minute commute to work. I can usually hold out that long. Not always of course but most of the time.

POST 20Original post

No, really, that's fighting talk and asking for a divorce. Mine knows I love the car and enjoys seeing me enjoy the car.

POST 21Original post

Sure, a C2 is a he, a C4 is a she. Put an aero kit on a C2 and it becomes a she. The Turbo is always a he.

POST 22Original post

That is so cool. I know Barnsley pretty well... never knew they did plate auctions there.

POST 23Original post

Wife loves the C2 (and all previous P-cars) but absolutely HATES the beater ('87 Buick S/W) that I bought to drive to work on snowy days in DC. She makes me park it around the corner in front a the neighbor's house. DC and snow don't mix, and this is a true beater. But the P-car has always been welcome in the family

POST 24Original post

Ouch. What happened to the engine? That would give anyone a sour taste.

POST 25Original post

My wife likes cars more than she admits, and she appreciates the quality and gorgeous look of the 996 C4S. She doesn't understand what it does for me, and likely never will - but she knows it's important to me to have a toy car, whether a Porsche or something else. It's much, much cheaper than a divorce. Her attitude is "Life is short - get what you want and enjoy it!" She's a honey! My wife is great, too!

POST 26Original post

3 points for the funniest quote of the week! In all honesty, why should they hate a car you love? My wife doesn't share my passion for these things, nor do I share hers for baskets/flowers/romance novels, the list goes on. She likes that it makes me happy, and thats all i can ask for

POST 27Original post

Mine was fine with my toys until the recent purchase of the GT3. She was fine with the Ninja motorcycle, traded it in and got Jet Skis, traded those in and got a Z3, traded that in and got an M3, traded the M3 in and got the GT3. It's now been put in my face 2-3 times recently when I complain about wasted expenses such as "Why did you take the kids to that Dentist when we have dental insurance with this other dentist?" BOOM, Porsche purchase put back in my face and how much it cost. I finally had enough and told her your "lucky I didn't get a Ferrari!!!!" Don't know where this will go. Never, EVER had a problem with buying and enjoying my toys. Together 20 years married 14. I don't understand it

POST 28Original post

Okay, the C2 had a half an aerokit, then I finished putting the other half on....so I have a he and a she.....does that mean I go both ways? I'm so confused!!

POST 29Original post

Oh please don't tell me there are he-she Porsche, I don't think I could take that. When I say tranny I really mean transmission, ok?

POST 30Original post

My wife was somewhat fine with my obsession until I used her toothbrush to clean the brake calipers. OOPS

POST 31Original post

Hmmm... a transgendered Porsche... I Porsche that goes both ways. We might need photos of that one.

POST 32Original post

mine does not think it is all that special - but she is ok with my infatuation with it!

POST 34Original post

Mine hates it. Anything more than basic transportation to take you from point A to point B is a waste to her. She cannot understand why anyone would ever just "go for a drive" unless they were being paid to deliver something. Cars are not something we have in common, obviously. Luckily, I take care of my car very well, and although it's 6 years old, it looks newer than our 2 other cars that have been thrashed, are packed full of garbage, food spilled here and there, wheels all scraped up, etc., etc. I think she realizes that over the long haul, it's not that bad compared to destroying 3 or 4 other cars.

POST 35Original post

My wife of 30 years nagged me for 15 months to buy my Carrera. She figured I would quit asking to borrow her Boxster. It worked! A month or so ago we went to the America Le Mans series races at Miller Motorsports Park and when she saw the Porshes racing she said maybe you should start racing cars. I said yea maybe, but I really don't need all that stress. We traveled the western US for 8 years in the late '80s and early '90s while I roadraced motorcycles. She's been really good as far as my toys. I had an MG, Harley, and a BSA motorcycle when we married, Now have half a dozen Harleys, Buell, GSXR and a few others.

POST 36Original post

My wife calls my C4S "the useless car"??? When I bought it I told her I would drive it everyday hell or highwater. Then, I brought it home..............waxed it............looked at it, ..had terrible thoughts of salt, key scratches, theft, sunlight, etc. Now I treat it like my daughter, when she was 17 years old = Stay the @#$%^ away!!!!!!!!!!

POST 37Original post

My first date with my wife 15 years ago I took her out to the desert with my friend and his girlfriend and in my trunk I pulled out my SKS rifle with a 30 round banana clip, 45 cal and a few shot guns and we leveled half a mountain that day. To this day she never says anything about my toys. We love each other very much but, makes me wonder...

POST 38Original post

I met my wifey because of the P-Car! We both had Boxsters at the time, and met online on PPBB before we actually met in the 'real world'. So I have a P-Car crazy wifey, who said YES YES YES YES YES! when I said I wanted a 996 Gotta love it! Chris.

POST 39Original post

Looks like you hit the P-car jackpot! Congrats!

POST 40Original post

I am not sure what happened. PCNA never has called me back not answered any letters I ever sent them which is why I say they could not have handled this any more badly than they have. They are the ones who came in and made the decision to replace my engine yet they refuse to talk to me. They communicate sparsely through the service advisor, and that is at random. Really what they want is for me to simply accept their replacing my brand new engine in an 8 month old car, and move on happily. Really they are replacing a bad engine, and honestly what else can I ask for right? There was a problem, they went with the most extreme fix, left me in the dark for the most part, refused to talk to me about it because they were afraid of a lemon claim, the fix the car and move on. I actually am okay with that. What I am not okay with is how they react to customers. It pisses me off to no end in fact. Imagine my feeling after making this kind of investment in a car, and having the car out of my posession for a substantial period of time, and them never checking in to see if everything was done to my satisfaction, etc. When i calles they said it would take 72 hours for the PCNA regional manager to contact me. That was over 9 days ago now, and I am still waiting. Contrast that with home BMW has treated me. My wife just got a new X5. It came with an annoying rattle that was incredibly hard to find, locate and fix. I took that bad boy back to them 8, yes EIGHT times before they finally found it. Yes I was annoyed, but because of their communication and commitment to finding and erradicating the problem, and their continued calls from BMWNA to make sure I was happy with the process I was never really even upset about it. I am an easy going person. Hell two days ago the service manager at BMW called me to see how my 911 was! He knew I was having problems because the damn thing broke down in his service lot one day and got flat bedded out of there. HE called to check on how my car was even though it has no bearing on him or his business in any way. That is how I expect to be treated.

POST 41Original post

Sorry to hear that about your car.....the f..ing arrogance!! I hope they gave you a loaner!! Because it is not acceptable and you should file a complaint... about if my wife likes the P::::::>> mine liked it (not loved it!!) when it was "normal"..now that it is lowered (not normal...her words not mine!!) she hates it...refuses to drive it.....she has no choice but to sit next to me when we go somewhere....because I refuse to drive "her" X5 for anything else but grocery shopping!....and of course when I got pulled over for speeding and didn't have my license she had to drive the P home...was she pissed......she thinks that the front bumper is coming off any moment!!

POST 42Original post

Unbelieveable. That is simply unacceptable for a company like Porsche. That's a sure-fire way to lose a customer for life.

POST 43Original post

I had a like experience with trying to get a regional Porsche guy to call me back a few years ago. The guys at the dealer said that he would never call a customer back and they had a hard time talking with him themselves. They were right, I never heard from him even after writing a nasty letter to PCNA about his non-response and the incedent. I had to call the 800 number to even get the final brush off! According to the dealer these guys are way over worked, their territories are huge and they resent it. Poor excuses but I still buy their cars....I don't get myself either some days?

POST 44Original post

Not to perpetuate the hijacking of the thread, but I guess car dealers are car dealers, no matter what the marque. I've never bought a Porsche from a dealer (well, I bought my used Boxster from a FORD dealer, and they were so happy to make the car go away, because they were clueless about how to market the car). Stoddard, here in Cleveland, doesn't seem to be that way, but they're one of the oldest dealerships around. I've had a great rapport with them for service in the past, and they are huge supporters of our PCA region. New owners took over (they used to be owned by the Porsche family's financial holdings-to keep it simple), and the only net effect (and positive) so far, is that they're bringing in a lot of used p-cars (plus dealing on Audi's) to sell.

POST 45Original post

The dealer in my case has been pretty good about the whole thing. It is Porsche as a company that I am not very disappointed in with their behavior. They(PCNA) are the ones who allegedly came in to test the car because the techs at the dealer were having a hard time finding a cause of repeated flashing CEL and misfire on the #4 cylinder. PNCA is the one who made the decision to replace the engine. I am okay with that decision, but I wanted to know what led them to making that decision, etc. I guess in the end it doesn't make much difference, but it would have made me feel better. As it is I have a BMW service manager who shows more concern over my feelings on this than PCNA. Freaking crazy the way PNCA treats customers. Like many of you I am a pretty young guy with lots of cars to buy in the future. This will give me pause in buying another one from Porsche. I have no such reservations about BMW. Of course I have owned 5 BMW's at this point so I kind of have a hsitory with them. I do not with Porsche, but it isn't starting off very well. To get this thread back on track my wife agrees with me ;-)

POST 46Original post

My wife doesn't hate the P-car as much as she hates me researching for mods or just being on rennlist or other forums. She thought it would be over when i bought the car and put it in my garage. It just started.....

POST 47Original post

I've owned some type of Porsche for 19 years. I've been with my wife 9 years (married 3), so she kind of understands the pecking order! She hated my 944, but loved the Boxster. She did not like the 993C4 as much as the Boxster, but was sad to see it go, when we sold it two weeks ago. The ride seemed very harsh to her, and preferred the Tip ikn the Boxster to the 993's 6-speed (though she's become one of the best manual shifting students that I've ever had). She fell in love with the 996, and loves "Violet" more than I do. She does think that the car is too quiet (as do I), compared to the Motosound exhaust of the 993. She definitely won't mind when I put in Fabspeeds (or whatever), and already approves of the Schnell CAI and intake "muffler" removal for the small improvement in sound.

POST 48Original post

My wife was quite happy (and proud) of the p-car purchase. She still giggles when I pull out of a corner. Now I'm buying our first real house, so she's even happier. (In my neighbourhood, median home price = 20 times price of average '00 996)

POST 49Original post

That is exactly how my 2 little boys react when I pull out of a corner aggressively. I get a kick out of it everytime they do it - it just doesn't get old! My kids definitely like the pcar more than the wifey does

POST 50Original post

My 4 year old girl tells me to slow down or I'll get a time out from the police.

POST 51 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I just pulled out of a corner and heard a loud bad. Bye Bye Clutch Guess who had to come from work to pick my *** up "The Wife" She is the best, I might trade the 996 some day but I would never trade her

POST 52Original post

My bride of 20 years LOVES my Targa, begged me 3 yrs ago to just buy the damn thing, loves how happy it makes me (I have kept this one longer than any of my M cars or X5), and loves having the car always parked out front of a restaurant, etc. She HATES driving the car and is not crazy about riding in it, especially getting in and out with heels. My enlightened 14 y/o daughter, on the other hand, LOVES the car, always wants to hop in, and tells her friends she wants a Porsche (two syllables) when she gets older. That's my girl :-) -- M

POST 53Original post

my wife loves the P-car. She wasn't too sure when I brought up the the idea of getting one, but now she is glad we did. She drives it too work every so often when I am out on a trip, and just yesterday took it to work and parked next too one of her coworkers who had just bought a BMW Z4. She went in and made fun of him and said he was driving a "girlie" car, and that he should be driving a real car like a Porsche!! Both her and I have enjoyed meeting many new friends and activities in the local PCA. She even suggests PCA trips to go on.

Better question: how does your Porsche feel about your wife?

POST 55Original post

Unfortunately, my wife gives me crap about it all the time. She resents the cost of it, doesn't like the color, I had to get a Z3 as a beater car...more expense, etc, etc... The most ironic thing is that it was her idea I get a Porsche in the first place six years ago when I got my Boxster. I've got a 03 C4S now...so she started it...lol

" How does your Wife feel about your Porsche???" Hmmm, maybe someday I'll ask.

POST 58Original post

Lots of funny/clever posts in this thread. I love the car, and have always loved driving... In fact, I'm 38 but still like a 16 year old looking for any excuse to get in the car and drive it... "Does anyone need anything from the store?" Headed into work this morning and took a 45 minute detour to drive. These cars satisfy that urge more than any other car I've driven... BMWs, Maserattis, Datsun 240Z, '66 Mustang Convertible (the closest one), Mazda Rx-7, '95 Mustang GT Convertible, Saab 900SE Turbo Convertible, Porsche 944S, Porsche 951, Porsche 968 Convertible... I just got my 996 back and after 6 days in a Boxster Tiptronic, you kinda forget how special these cars are. JKC

Like a few others here, my wife hates the car (even more than she hates cars in general). The first couple of days I had it she wouldn't even go in the garage when it was there. She won't ride in it (unless forced) and I don't like her POS. Lately she's been talking up how nice other cars are, in an effeort to get m to sell the 996. rob

Our wives must have been twins separated at birth

POST 61Original post

My wife loves the car, but hates how much a spent to buy it. She loves it because we can go for rides together with our daughter. with my Z06 I always had to go solo.

POST 62Original post

My wife very luckily for me is a car person. Loves cars, the sillier and more extreme the better. She is the one who "encouraged" me to seek out a 996 with an aero package over the standard body. Silly me thought they were a little to over the top looking. When I showed her pics of the car that I thought I may buy she quickly came up with a nickname for her. "LOLA", which my son has taken to as well. 3 year old always says " daddy, ride in lola? puhwees" I have to say that as a guy, I feel fairly cool about seeing my girl carefully backing our 996 out of the driveway to go meet the girls for dinner or pick up something at the store. Then stand there listening to the raspy exhaust as she drives away and shifts to hold 2nd through our neighborhood. She always tells me about all the looks she gets from people at lights, parking, etc. In short, my wife loves the fact that I love my P-car. When I head out for a drive she calls it my therapy time. -Paul

My wife could take it of leave it, She has driven it 4 - 5 times and efery time she returns she tells me now nervoue she is driving it, because she knows how **** I have always been about my cars, especially the 996. She said (jokingly, of course) that if she ever gets in an accident while driving the Porsche, she hopes she is killed because she thinks that is the only way I won't be mad at her for wrecking the Porsche! Well, it's good to know that she has her priorities straight!

POST 64Original post

I'm really sorry that some here have wives that don't share their enthusiasm for their P cars. Is it because it is made in Germany? Or maybe rear engined? Or because it attracts the attention of sexy young girls? (I haven't had this problem) Somehow I don't believe it has anything to do with being a Porsche. I bet it's because it's expensive and it takes your attention away from them.

POST 65Original post

Both my wife and I used to autocross and do track events for many years. During that time, when I would tell her about some modification I wanted to do to the Porsche, her first question was, "Will it make it faster??" If so, she was all for it! Hard to find a wife like that!!! That's one reason why I have kept her for 38 years.

POST 66Original post

Mine gets really upset when I call the P-Car "My Car" but doesn't understand when I refer (in retaliation) to her Range Rover as "My truck"...in her imaginary world, it's "our car" and "her truck"

POST 67Original post

Hope she doesn't give you the ultimatum, cuz she may not like your decision about who stays and who goes. -- M

My wife has her own sweet ride (SC430) therefore she or I could care less what she thinks. I'm the one driving it solo 95% of the time anyway.....

POST 71Original post

My Fiance drives a G35, which is a wicked sweet car, she has all the options, and its 300hp in a more luxury way. Every 3 years she gets something new, so she is happy.
