Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Came home from a great Labor Day weekend trip to the Hamptons and the US Open to discover a two foot long key mark along my left rear quarterpanel. ( I tried to post the pic but the file was too large) It's a shame such a great weekend had to be punctuated by this.
What do you suppose goes through their tiny little minds as they do this? A sense of satisfaction or achievement by putting it to some "rich a-hole"? Perhaps a reminder that the closest they will come to owning something like this will be the paint they carry on their key? Whatever it is, I fluctuate between hoping the little douchebag running around NYC gets hit by a cab and feeling sorry for the hopeless SOB.
Well, here's to hoping it will buff out. Doubtful, as it is deep enough to catch my fingernail. Then I'll have to decide whether to repaint or not. At least it is only one panel.
Same thing happened to me a few months ago, though on two panels (front and rear fenders). It's mind boggling. What color is your car? Is it a metallic?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune..happens all over..even infront of Starbucks in Rockville.. check these guys out, they will make it like new again...Euro Pros Body shop in Gaithersburg Md
Happened to an Audi I had a few years back at a running track in suburban Philly (fortunately not to my P-car). I had the rear quarter repainted professionally and felt much better - it was undetectable to the eye. You will feel better too if you have it redone right. What goes through their minds when they do this stuff? Either nothing, or sheer envy. Sorry this happened to you.

Thanks guys. Happened in NYC. Arctic silver. Hides stuff pretty well, but not this well I figure. Thanks for the info trinitony, but I will probably go back to wagon works. They did a great job when my M3 got keyed. Plus they had a couple of hotties working there to help ease the pain. Hope I didn't raise my deductible on my comprehensive.
you would think that someone who was at the US Open would be above doing something like this. Might have been some spoiled little rich turd kid. I mean it is not like you were around soccer houligans. Tennis fans seem to generally be a pretty tame lot. It sucks either way that much is certain.
Sucks big time .... really sorry to hear that. Hopefully the repair shop can make it as good as new.
Happened to a neighbor of mine - picked up his brand new Caddy (his dream car ... to each their own) on a Friday. Saturday night some _hole ran his key up one 1/4 panel, across the trunk lid and down the other 1/4 ... nice present to wake up to.
Who knows WTF goes through these people's mind!!
I'm pretty sure it didn't happen at the Open, but in Soho. Right outside of a busy restaurant with lots of nice cars parked on the street and plenty of people around.
Oh well, the joy of driving a 911 every day far outweighs any occasional negative.
