Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
I've run my C4S down to less than "30 miles to empty" twice to get to the next Sunoco station.
Leading evidence: 'Run c4s down' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run c4s down' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Am I wrong in thinking that running a car all the way down to empty (and indeed, have heard even below an 1/8th of a tank) is harmful to the engine because of the increased concentration of impurities at that point?

I recall reading somewhere that it is not good to run the tank too low because the circulating fuel cools the fuel pump.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just put 57 Ltre (sorry to the US friends for the metric), I though the car had a 58 Ltre thank, am I wrong, does it have a reserve or was I 1 Ltre away from pushing ?????
Incidently, I think the "range" function isn't accurate, mine went from indicate 50 Km left to zero in one hundred feet ?????
I think for the 4S it is 64 litres (sorry for the English spelling
) but approx 10 litres is considered as "reserve" so the fuel light comes on at this point, although I have never waited for this
For the 2002 996, it's 16.9 gallons (64 liters). The most I ever filled her up with was about 14 gallons (53 liters) after driving around with the low fuel light. And I thought I was pushing it at 53 liters... 57 sure sounds gutsy!

Trust me, it had nothing to do with guts, had to do with a combination of laziness and stupidity. Here in Canada Sunoco is the only place to get 94 Octane so occasionally I'll drive a bit longer on a thnak to find the next Sunoco which, saddly, aren't as frequent as the other das co.

I think the pickup point of the fuel pump is at the very bottom anyways, where all the dirt supposedly will be. If there really was any dirt in there, you would already know it.
I've run my C4S down to less than "30 miles to empty" twice to get to the next Sunoco station. Each time it took about 15.5 gallons. Unfortunately we only get 93 octane here in Maryland. I have to drive to PA to get the 94 good stuff!
I recall reading somewhere that it is not good to run the tank too low because the circulating fuel cools the fuel pump. A larger volume of fuel in the tank provides better cooling of the pump.
