I used 5.25" mids from a 136KP set for my doors, they are good but not great.

I am going to upgrade my stereo soon and would love the opinion of those who currently use Focal speakers.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am going to upgrade my stereo soon and would love the opinion of those who currently use Focal speakers. I am trying to decide if I should put the 165V3 three way speakers up front, or if I should put the 5WS subs in the doors and a pair of separates in the dash. I am not looking to add another separate subwoofer enclosure in the car, as I am trying to keep the upgrade fairly simple (new head unit and amp and some speakers in oem locations).
I am really trying to figure out how the 6 woofers from the 165V3s will compare with 5WS subs in the doors.
Thanks for the advice.

I have the FOCAL system in my 2000 C2. I talked with Rod at Car Audio Innovations about the pros/cons and ultimately decided to get the 3-Way components (he substituted the 5" mid-base and even pre-mounted them for me) and the Woofer Box.
When I got the speakers installed, the woofer box was still en route, so I had a few days without the added bass. The system sounded very nice, BUT, the deep bass was missing - even with the 5" drivers.
Now, when the woofer box arrived - I was in HEAVEN!!!! The sound is uncomparable. The 4th layer really made the difference.
IMO, you shouldn't omit the woofer box - if you are spending the money, go all the way, you won't regret it.

I put the 100KP's in by dash and they are great. I used 5.25" mids from a 136KP set for my doors, they are good but not great. The 5WS for the 13KS which are specifically subs for small enclosures would be much better. I got my 100KP from Woofersetc.com for a pretty good price. Since then I found this source (
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/vipmobileonline/17.html
) which seems to have the best price for Focal, only $105@ for the 5WS. I haven't bought from them though. So if you are going to do the work yourself you may wnat to try one of these sources. If you want the work done for you, or want the enclosure for the bigger subs most people say you can't go wrong with Rod mentiioned above. I personaly did not want to go for a big enclosure, some say you can't move the seat all the way back with them.
Do a search here and you will find many threads on stereos, installs, etc.
