Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

it would be interesting to see if the results change much from poll to poll.
Leading evidence: 'Replace much' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace much' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The combination of this poll and the number of miles between changes should tell us a lot about this issue.

Of those that do have problems there appears to be no set lifetime on the RMS and it can fail in 7K or over 45K.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Doesn't your search function work for your screen name? Try it. You'll probably see that this poll has been conducted numerous times. Stop wasting valuable bandwidth and storage space.
Here is one of them:

Apologies. Honestly, I didn't look. If your statement is true, then why the hell is everyone asking the same question? (see the list of threads below this one).
I would regard that a greater waste of bandwidth.
Personally, I'm not that worried. I think in most cases these "hot topics" are overblown, but I was curious to know if this one was real, as it keeps coming up.
Oregant - those of us that have ben around here (Rennlist Forum) for a while (12+ months) have seen and heard most of these polls. When I first joined Rennlist I didn't do any searches. But after seening a lot of recurring topics in the last 18 months I do searches on the major topics.
While I am not trying to speak for 1999Porsche911, I am guessing he has seen many of the redundant threads on any particular topic. I think it is only natural for the "newbies" to start new threads on old topics because they don't know that there are already 3 - 10 threads on that topic. The reason they are not aware of those threads is because they don't use the "search" function.
I totally understand the sentiment. I can imagine that there's a fair amount of repetition.
I'm not a big fan of pointless rehashing of previous discussion (unless there's something new to bring to the table) and agree that's what the search function is for. That's why I'm amazed that the RMS issue keeps on coming up.
it would be interesting to see if the results change much from poll to poll. of course, not a random N, but still would be worth trending. I for one have had it done twice in pretty rapid susccession and then nothing since the new seating tool.
Well, right now (with approx. 40 responses - a very limited data set) it appears that 50-60% of respondants have had no problems. Of those that do have problems there appears to be no set lifetime on the RMS and it can fail in 7K or over 45K.
