Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that contain suggestions
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Used it this morning to inspect an engine to replace my daughter's bore scored Hyundai Elantra engine, and I found bore scoring on it also.
Leading evidence: 'Inspect engine' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect engine' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Suggestion
As I read other posts, the FSI procedure goes in from the sump to look at the cylinders under the pistons (sump removal and reseal, plus an oil change).

In part 5 of the youtube series, Mr Raby shows us how to look for bore scoring using an inexpensive borescope from Amazon, but I missed the part where he named the source for it-can anyone direct me to it?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

But once we got it connected to my old iPad, it worked like a charm.

This is the bore scope that was used in the video. (link is below) Just understand that these things are frustrating as hell to setup because they use a wifi connection instead of BlueTooth. We have no affiliation with these companies. But once we got it connected to my old iPad, it worked like a charm.

Just for the piece of mind that a trained Porsche Tech would be looking.
I just clicked over 77,000 miles, LN Single Row Pro done at 53,000.
What would be the labor hours to have a Porsche Indy scope a 3.6L?
Obviously replacing plugs at the same time.
As I read other posts, the FSI procedure goes in from the sump to look at the cylinders under the pistons (sump removal and reseal, plus an oil change). I think the typical PPI style scoping only goes through the plugs and looks at the bores above the cylinders.
I ended up with 2 of these for Xmas. I had asked a family member for the Nidage and my brother also sent me the Depstech. I set both up and the Depstech seems to be a bit better video quality, I believe it is 8mp and the Nidage is 2mp. Depstech is about twice the price however. Both were very easy to set up!
I got the Nidage for xmas, the one that Jake used. I could not set it up with my Pixel 2 phone, the app would not work, but I have an old LG Android tablet, works great!
Used it this morning to inspect an engine to replace my daughter's bore scored Hyundai Elantra engine, and I found bore scoring on it also. But I think I will just buy it and have it bored. An oversized piston kit for it is $79 if you can believe that. The engine and transmission can be bought for $500 from this guy. With all the accessories on it. So far away from a Porsche engine rebuild. LOL.
I have the same Nidage and it works great with my iPhone 7 and 11. Ive already used it on my 928 to figure out how to remove a stripped speed nut on an exhaust shield. Havent used it for borescoping duties yet.
My procedure inspects BOTH side of the bore.. From the sump with the piston at TDC, and from the spark plug with the piston at BDC.
No other method will give you comprehensive results.
